He has been visited by another mopnster migraine. It started last night and
is carrying on with a venageance today. And guess which day it is he's
supposed to go to hospital for an intravenous urogram?? Yes, today. I've
cancelled the appointment and asked for a replacement as there's no way he
can stand the light, plus he's got the horrendous headache, nausea, slurred
speech, visual disturbances, the works :(
Poor guy.

Purrs for Vernon, I hate to hear this. I know how debilitating
migraines can be. Has he been able to find any meds that give him any
relief at all?
Helen, I "outgrew" migraines, they say, after menopause. But I tried
everything. Imitrex, Beta blockers, even the nasal spray. I never
thought *every* I would end up sticking narcotics up my nose.
Meditation. Breathing exercises. Diet changes.
Mine always started by seeing funny lights and smelling oranges. Then I
knew I would lose the next two days.
Hope Vernon's headaches just disappear one day, also.

Isn't that funny. I often smell cucumbers. I am looking forward to menopause
for that reason. I will say they have diminished. Poor Vernon. He doesn't
get menopause :(

Oh, I"m so sorry. I'm another one who has been there, done that, for
far too long. However, I'm also one of the very fortunate ones who
found a treatment that works (whew!) It's been working for the better
part of 16 years now.
I remember my first migraine at 3 years old. We didn't know what they
were then. Finally got treated properly when I hit 30.

Heh. Sure thing. I can purr now, because I'm in between migraines. The last
one was twelve days long... I've had them at least once a month since 1971,
duration is never less than three days, average is 7-8 days, record was two
months nonstop.

Yes indeed! I used to get those, too-- they have improved much over
time, though. I once fell down the stair because I was having an
"aura" and couldn't see where I was going. Does he take migraine
medication?

Many, many soft and gentle purrs for Vernon that his migraine h/a fades away

Thanks for all the good wishes for my ill-health-ridden spouse :)
The headache is leaving gradually and he's now got the standard
post-migraine exhaustion. So he is on the sofa, feet up, cat on lap, cup of
tea in hand :)
I hope this is the last migraine he has for a while. He normally gets two -
four a year and he's fine the rest of the time. Having two so close together
is unusual for him.

I don't get migraines but understand that they're horrible to live
with. I'm glad to read that he's feeling better! I think the cat on
his lap has a lot to do with it! :)

Hi, Helen. Didn't see the OP in time to reply, but our two are purring that
Vernon stays hale enough for his procedure, whenever it is.

Sorry for missing this thread - methinks *someone* <glare at Caliban>
has been walking on the laptop again and marking threads read. Might
also have been another *someone* <glare at Miranda>. Anyway, purrs that
this was the last migaine for Vernon in a very long time.

I'm getting behind in reading the group so I hope Vernon is feeling better
by now. I was wondering, with both you and Vernon suffering migraines, does
Nathan ever get them?

Hi Adrian.
I'm *always* behind reading the group! Vernon is on the mend. So far....
Nathan seems to be clear. He gets the odd headache but nothing that I can
definitely say is a migraine... yet... I hope he stays migraine clear.

I've been suffering hormonal migraines for 30 years, with no help from
my GP, so I'm trying acupuncture and it really seems to be helping,
they haven't gone completely but seem (so far anyway) so be reduced in
the amount and how long they go on for. I've been having it for 3
months and usually get migraines every month for up to 10 days, but for
the last 3 months they've been less severe and only lasting 1 day,
which for me is a blessing. I don't know if acupuncture would work for
everyone though, and I have to pay for it, but he's been great and if I
can't afford it at the time of the treatment, he lets me give him a
post-dated cheque for pay day.
