What do you do with your pet(s) when you hide out at the
neighbors? MLB

Well it's usually a rush to get over there, as they're about 5 miles away on
rough gravel most of the way. I usually try to grab at least one cat and
toss it in the car with me, but sometimes there's no chance. Like with this
storm today, moving at 55 MPH and I got the warning when it was about 10
minutes away. All I can do is make sure they can get out of the house if
they need to.

Heh. We *all* go to the cellar. Or we used to, back when I could open
the door by myself. DH often said the tornado wasn't going to kill me,
I was going to trip on the cellar steps trying to carry cat carriers
and break my neck.
My dad wasn't an animal lover. I still remember how he grumbled when we
dragged the (usually wet) dogs, the cats, and even the parakeet to the
cellar. He usually stayed in the house.
Hope you all stay safe.

Right now my biggest goal in life is to get into a house that has a
basement. It's just a question of money. It's damn hard to buy a house with
no downpayment.

Since I don't live in tornado country I can't say much. Other than
attempt to get all of the cats, and drive faster - if possible.
I've heard that several states are having a problem right about now.
Purrs to all, and stay safe!

Don't know about Pat but I take Persia and Peaches into the bathroom (inside
room, no windows) and hunker down in the bathtub with a flashlight, pillows,
towels and a blanket. There is no place else to go.

We're under a tornado watch all day and it is expected to get severe this
afternoon. I put my grill in the built-in storage shed off my patio. It's
windy as hell outside. I made sure I have plenty of bottled water and I
always keep lots of canned goods in case I lose electricity. Brought in
some firewood so it could dry out. If it looks like it will get bad I'll
run and get some ice for the big cooler.
It's still warm here but that cold front is supposed to slam into the warm
front from the gulf in a couple of hours. Never makes for a good thing.
Better safe than sorry.
Be safe, Pat!

You're in for a rough day in Memphis. Temp has dropped from near 70 here
this morning to around 40 now.
BTW I'll be visiting Memphis later this week, let's do lunch or something,
provided you survive today.

We'll get *our* turn later this evening. Watches around us all
day, schools have already let out early, day-care centers have closed
down, workers are getting off early in some offices, etc., etc. The
*BIGGY* is expected to hit sometime after dark. Today's high in the
mid-70's, going down to 50's tomorrow, lows of 29-32 during the night.
We're a good bit south of you so you'll probably be colder. We're as
prepared as much as we're gonna get but, of course, don't look forward
to it.
