I had to take Hugo Katt to the Animal Hospital today. And leave him there
for some days of examination and observation.
He hasn't been eating much lately and now he was throwing up what little
food he had eaten. He has become very thin and he was dehydrated. He only
weighed 2,4 kilos and he used to weigh 6 when he was younger.
He will be x-rayed and hydrated and have kidneys an thyroid and things
examined.
TED said that Hugo Katt is quite old of course. Like "is it really any use
to keep him?" Well, he is 16. And I would like to keep him for as long as he
is comfortable.
Now it is midnight and I wonder how my boy is. I hope he is feeling better
and sleeping.
Will you please ask your owners for some purrs?

I do hope that whatever is wrong with your wonderful black Hugo Katt
isn't serious, and can be easily treated, and quickly make Hugo Katt
feel better.

Of course, Elisabet! How worrying! Having just gone through the same
thing with Frank, I know exactly how you feel. And what an insensitive
vet. Many hugs and purrs coming over the gulf to you.

Oh Elisabet, I am sorry to hear that Hugo's not feeling well. I do hope TED
can to something for him, being insensitive doesn't rule out being
competent, I hope ...
I so wish a lot more comfortable and happy times for Hugo!
Thea sends lots of headbutts and Bono drooly purrs for you both
please let me know if there's anything at all I can do

Many, many purrs are on their way.  We hope Hugo Katt recovers
quickly.  Sixteen is a bit elderly but not  *old* - we've had cats who
reached 18, 19, and 20 - so hang in there!!  Best of good wishes for
you and for Hugo Katt.

Purrs and gentle headbutts for Hugo Katt as well as yourself, Lisa. Hugo
Katt isn't old at all and hissspitt to the TED who would suggest such a
thing.

Lots of purrs and prayers coming over for Hugo Katt that it is something
that can be treated.
I would not necessarily worry about your vet saying that he's old.  It
doesn't always mean that nothing can be done, but it's offering a "get out
clause" in case you don't want to spend money on an old animal.
My vet used to do this with me, until he knew me better.
If you make it clear that you'd like to keep him as long as possible if Hugo
is not suffering without a hope of being comfortable with treatment, I'm
sure the vet will go along with it.

What a drop in weight!  We're sending purrs that he gets back to
eating well and being healthy again.  The older the cat, the more
valuable it is, since that much more love has been invested. :)

Purrs for Hugo.  Sixteen isn't necessarily that old; if your vet
thinks older animals shouldn't be cared for, maybe it's time for a new
vet.
