Killing the wadder monster

Caliban is fascinated by the kitchen sink. He checks it out several
times a day. If there are dishes soaking in the sink, he drinks from
them. Sometimes he just sits in it, looking immensely pleased with
himself. But the best is when meowmie turns on the tap. Then this
glittering snake appears that runs from the tap and down into the hole
in the sink.

Caliban does what any self-respecing cat will do when he sees a snake;
he tries to bite its head off. Chomp! Wha-huh?? What happened? Did it
bite me? No, it doesn't hurt. But why is my face all wet? And it didn't
die! It's running as fast as ever, from the tap and down into the hole!
Bite it again! Chomp! Wha-huh?

One day, Caliban will surely succeed in killing the wadder monster. One
day he'll be big and strong enough. Until then, he is getting lots of
practice. And getting very wet in the process.

I'm working on it, but when Caliban sees me coming with the camera, he
loses all interest in the 'wadder monster' and comes to investigate the
camera instead.

I haven't managed to take a picture of him biting the wadder monster,
but here he is preparing to do so (3 pics starting here):

That time he decided to try and kill it with his paw, though.

Thanks for posting those. :-) It's a shame you've run out of space on
Webshots, I would enjoy seeing more full size pics of Caliban.

Da wadder greebling (aka monster) can only be tamed if da meowmie buys da
wadder fowntan fing fur da kittie to master!  Ofurwise, da monster will
always have da control and da monster greeblings win!

Dere ain't no such fing as wadder monsters.  Dat's just a tale to frighty
der baby kitties.
Me & da KFC won't drink no fresh or running wadder.  We likes da dog bowl
wot meowmie fills up outside da back door and we won't drink it if the
wadder is not a few days old.
Boyfie

Meowmies note:   it's true. They don't seem to like fresh water to drink,
only old water from this dog bowl.  I have cleaned it out and put new water
in it today, which means they will be drinking out of the birdbaths for a
couple of days I suppose. <sigh>

ete all der birdies!!  We wud ete der littel chikkens too but meowmie won't
let us.
We two not reely scared of Shylock and Enid, dem geese, we just prefer not
to share our space wiv dem.  Dats all it is.  We ave nuffin in common and

Vino's the opposite.  He only drinks very fresh water.  If it's even
just a few hours old, he sits in front of the bowl and scratches the
floor but won't drink.  I have to dump the old out and put in new.
Then he drinks.
Vino actually drinks quite a bit.  I'd say I see him drinking 3-4
times a day.  Maybe it's because it's so hot here.
Vino also has some specific requests regarding the location of
drinking water.  Next to the cat food is unacceptable.  Drinking water
must be in the bathroom or on the kitchen counter.

Next door neighbors cat will only drink from freshly filled crystal sherbet
glass on the wet bar.  I've got to wonder how she used to manage as she is a
feral rescue.

Jo, shhhhh!  She's got them properly trained and will *not* (I repeat, not!)
go back to drinking from puddles.  You got that?!  LOL

I collect rainwater for the cats, they definately prefer it.

On the island, Frank would much rather drink from rainwater puddles than
from his nice clean bowl inside.

Placement seems key in our house. The one by the tub, and one, a glass of
water I left sitting on the table by the armchair, are extremely popular.
Water in the kitchen can sit there until doomsday, as well as water in the
bedroom (well, I do hear Sugar drinking that at night sometimes).

Tiger will only drink from the fish pond/water garden in the sunroom.
Tigger usually drinks from the d*g's bowl, regardless of how fresh her
own water bowl is.

It does take video, but it requires a lot of light and I don't have
enough by the sink. It looks incredibly funny when he tries to bite the
neck off the water. And then the puzzled look. Then another try. Heheheheh.
