Hi Marina:

I was showing Fred your cat pictures and he asked me to tell you that he
worked in Finland in the town of Tampere, lived on a street called
Sammonkatu, and worked at Valmet Linnovuoren Tehdas.  This was in 1986.
While he was there, he went to Jyvaskyla, Turku and spent a week in
Helsinki!  He loves languages, picks them up like velcro and had a great
time making sure he pronounced every single one of those consonants.

There, I've done it!

Wow, that is a feat, especially for an English-speaker, who's used to
leaving ou half the letters of a word. ;o) I'm impressed that you
spelled all those names correctly. :o) If he worked at Valmet, is he an
engineer? My mother used to live in Tampere as a child (though not born
there).

Yikes - Fred is *not* an engineer!!!  His skills lie more in the areas of
languages, writing, and communicating.  He's more of an academic, political
type.  I have to have all the mechanical skills for the family ...

He loves saying the Finnish phrases he remembers - gets lots of mileage out
of those consonants :-)

Oh, I should know better than to jump to conclusions. After all, I work
at the Department of Computer Science myself, though I'm pretty clueless
with computers. :oP It's just that Valmet manufactures engines and
stuff, that's why I jumped to that particular conclusion.

LOL! Ask him to swear at you in Finnish. You will be impressed. :öP
