EVery so often, I feel the need to sing Stinky's praises, and wonder
how I ever had the amazing luck to stumble across such an
extraordinary little being.

He is getting used to Dante being around, and he still doesn't like
him, but he tolerates him, as long as he doesn't play rough, or get up
in his face (he does both, of course).  That is answered with a hiss
and a bop.  Dante has no animosity towards Stinky, just a cheerful
seeming obliviousness to the fact that Stinky doesn't want to play
with him. ;)

Indeed, since Stinky started bopping, he has loosened up a lot.  He
patrols more, plays more, cuddles more.  So as long as nobody gets
hurt, I'm concluding that expressing himself is good for him. ;)

In fact, sometimes, I suspect he is really grudgingly playing with
Dante.  He can't seem to resist chasing him around, or uncovering him
from his hiding places, and bopping.  In fact, I've started calling
that "Hide 'N' Bob."

The thing that has been truly amazing to me, though, is how his mood
seems to turn on a dime, and be completely, clearly differentiated.
Not since the first day Dante was here, has Stinky hissed or growled
at me.  He can be growling and aiming bops at Dante, and if I sit near
him, he will come and give me headbutts!  I have actually felt the
growl turn to a purr in his throat.   He has had Dante cornered under
a chair, and I just very unceremoniously picked him up and hauled him
away, and I could feel the purrs start as I was carrying him.  He has
actually sat on my lap, contentedly, give Dante a hiss as the little
one approached, then returned immediately to being a mama's boy  (I'm
thinking of changing his name to Eddie Haskel;))!

This has been a huge adjustment for my sweet, spoiled little boy, and
there is still a long way to go. But under extreme provocation, he has
never taken it out on me, when he easily could have, or when many cats
would be so confused that they just couldn't help it.  He sleeps next
to my head at night, and is fine as long as Dante stays down below my
knees where he belongs. ;)  As they say, hard times don't build
character, they reveal it. ;)

Awww, that's great :-)  I hope to get Vino a fursib one day.  I know
he doesn't like other cats and he never asserts himself.  I hope that
maybe it would be different with a little kitten.

You'll definitely have to let us know how that goes.  Vino has the
advantage of not having a tail that a kitten can attack, so he's
already a step ahead of most other older-brothers-to-be.

It's definitely not going to happen too soon.  When we first move to
Australia, we'll be renting a house and I think Vino should get a year
or so to be the master of his new domain.  But I've been considering
following Marina's lead and having the new kitten there when we move
into our new house that we'll have built.  I'm also still considering
making it 2 new kittens at the same time that would play together and
leave Vino alone.

I think that's a great idea, that way Vino won't feel like his territory
is being invaded.

Another good idea!

Yes, when we first found the bitties Nocturne was PISSED.  But they
moved out two weeks later with DP, and a week after that, Nox and
Smokey and I moved to our new place in Halifax.  When Nox and I
arrived, the bitties were already well settled in and she seemed a lot
more accepting that they were part of the deal (or maybe she was just
happy to have her "thrones" back, since our furniture vanished a week
after we got the kittens in a U Haul driven by my dad....)

I have a very soft spot for Stinky.  Stinky & Boyfriend seem to have similar
soft temperaments.
