Smudge Update

You may recall Smudge (who owns Joyce Wermont) was attacked by two pit bulls
the other night and ended up with a few really severe bite wounds (along
with many minor bites and other injuries)

Joyce rushed to the vet, and Smudge received treatment on two separate days:
Weds, November 2, when she was examined, had x-rays, and got antibiotics and
a painkiller. On Thursday morning, she had the sutures put in, and had to be
put under anesthesia. Smudge is now home recovering, and her prognosis is
good (thank Bast)

A little birdie told me that Joyce hasn't had a steady income for a few
years now and is already heavily in debt just from living expenses. The
unexpected vet bill is another big blow she really can't afford. She had to
pay the vet with a credit card, because they do not allow accounts, so she's
even in more debt now. She really has no way to pay off the credit card.
Joyce, as you can well imagine, is at her wit's end.

There is, however, a cunning plan. The vet has kindly agreed to reverse the
charges on her credit card if she can make some other sort of payment. But
of course, we can make it instead :-)

The vet in question is:

your choice would forever remember any act of kindness, no matter how small

Is Victor's PAYPAL account that was setup for Harri the Roadcat still
available for Smudge? Let me know and I'll throw in something for the poor
little kitty.

It sure is! Send away, the Paypal address is the one at the bottom, sans
the litter box. :)

Is there a contact person we should ask to speak to at the pet hospital?

Thanks for posting, Yowie. How terrible for Joyce and Smudge! And then
the money worries on top of it all. I so wish I could help, but Frank's
vet bills have been pretty steep the last few months, and I have to pay
a lot of back taxes next month. For want of more tangible help, we will
send lots of purrs and meatloaf meditations for Smudge's healing process
and for Joyce to find employment.

It's a surprise to hear about Joyce all of a sudden, and a shock to
hear about something happening to Smudge.  Thank goodness she's
recovering!  I can also imagine how the bill must look to someone
who's been struggling like Joyce, plus having to put everything on
credit.

Many purrs to Joyce and Smudge.  How did you hear about the terrible
accident?  Joyce hasn't posted here in over a year.  I do hope she
finds employment soon.
