Katie and I drove up to NYC reservoir area to see a longtime friend.
Unfortunately missed seeing Nutmeg, her 23yo tortie, who was having
surgery that day for dental abscesses and she pulled through in fine
fettle.
yesterday went to the Pike County Humane Society which the paper had as
folding with pet populations to be euthanized, but with donations of
$15,000 in two weeks they will stay in business threough March at
least.  My heart went out to the houseful of cats, even cuter than on
prior visits.  A tortie female was an incorrigible charmer, gently
playing from the top of the cat tree, an older male exuded affection
(beuatiful black&white with a white stripe down his long nose).  Norm

The vet gave her light anathesia and an 85% success chance.  Here's a
scary story about Nutmeg.  Some years ago Johanna got a call from a
neighbor at her NY house, saying the SPCA had broke in to rescue two
dogs and a cat.  Seems her son, Nutmeg was his cat, had gone off on
vacation leaving two friends and their two pitbulls:  the two friends
also left, the neighbor saw/heard there was nobody in attendance and
called the SPCA, Johanna was called that Nutmeg was going to be put
down, she demanded they hold off and left on an 8hr drive to reclaim
Nutmeg. Arriving too late that Thursday she got Nutmeg the next day,
Christmas Eve, and drove back to Maine.  Close call on two scores, the
pitbulls and the SPCA.

What a scare! Glad to hear Nutmeg has come through all her tribulations
and lived to such a ripe age. Purrs for many more years.
