Just got back from the ER.

It seems that Miss Whiskers has an systemic infection from her ordeal.
Quite apart from the damaged eye, something that I didn't mention on
Friday was that when found, she also had quite badly burned paws which
were all puffy, swolen, sore and red, a nasty gash at the base of her
tail, and the very tip of her tail was cut off and bleeding - probably
caused by something sharp.

She had a dose of the runs over the vet table, however her chest sounds
clear, she doesn't have a high temperature, and apart from problems
breathing, she is OK. Vet thinks that she is just sore and in pain and
now the pain killers have worn off from surgery, she's feeling it which
is causing the other symptoms.

She sees the vet again at 9.10am tomorrow morning. I may just be being
over-anxious, but to be honest, she's been through so much I'd far
rather over react than screw up.

Please keep sending purrs that it's nothing too serious. She's really
captured hearts in the Miles house.

All the beasties are purring (still!) and grunting for things to settle
quickly, and for Miss Whiskers to heal up quickly.

Smokie Darling (Annie) - Poor little mite, she's had a full life
already, and she's so little (well, to me all kittens are "little").

Continued purrs for Miss Whiskers.

I don't think you can 'over react' when it comes to bitties health and
well being, FWIW I would have done the same.

She will be in our purrs.  I don't think you are over reacting at all.  She
may have a will of iron.  But there is just so much a little bit can take
physically.

Looking forward to the day she can raise heck like a proper hoolikitten.

I hope she got some painkillers, the poor sweet baby. We are still thinking
of her. I'm sure she will come through, she's been so strong. Hell isn't
good enough for the bastards that did this to her.

I'm assuming they've gotten lots of antibiotics?

Continuing purrs for the little bit.  I remember Nox once wouldn't pee
for almost 3 days straight until she got painkillers.

Purrs for her recovery.

From the description of her injuries (and without actually seeing her), it
sounds like she might have been caught in the engine compartment of a
vehicle (burns from the hot engines, gashes and partial amputation from the
belt and/or fan blade).

With cooler temperatures coming, just a reminder for those of us in the
*northern* hemisphere that park their cars outdoors overnight, to check for
critters under the hood before starting the vehicle (a couple of thumps on
the hood, a gentle toot on the horn).  Fortunately, we've been luck with our
vehicles - the only time we've had critters of any kind *living* in a
vehicle is when I had the top down on the Jeep for a couple weeks one
summer, and something decided that it made a nice place the nap the night
away - considering that I was parking it on the side of the driveway that is
closest to our neighbor's wooded back yard.... We only knew it from the
fleabites we would get whenever we were in it!  Ended up putting the top up,
cracking a window a bit, and using a 'flea-fogger' bug-bomb in it - *twice*
for good measure - and we no longer park on that side of the drive :D

Poor baby. I can't believe someone did this to her. I hope they can find
the culprit.

Hope little missy is feeling better tomorrow. Did they give her pain
medications for tonight?

are sending their purrs as well. Poor, poor little darling.

Poor Miss Whiskers sounds like she has had a really bad time of it. Here's
hoping that things are getting better as quickly as possible. At least she
is in good caring hands.
