RPCA talk is infecting my writing. I just had to stop myself writing 'd*g' in my translation. I've also caught myself almost writing 'apurreciate'. One day, I will write 'hoomin' and not even realise. My mother once had a boss named Bartolotti. I have been known to refer to a "visit to TED" to people who haven't a clue what I'm talking about. Others such as "Apawz!" "purrson" and the like have crept in. There is no hope. Bad! Not that kind of movie, and not that kind of translation. I'm not writing subtitles, but translating the screenplay, so an international workshop can work on it and develop it. (This one's actually a kids' movie - lots of fun!) There are some translations out there that are stilted and awkward. And then there are great translations out there for important works, like those of Shakespeare, Steinbeck, Plato, and so on.
