Here's a link with more info.  He was abandoned at my apartment complex
about two weeks ago.  I wish I could take on five cats, but I cannot.

Perhaps there is a rescue organization who can take him? A web search
will probably turn up plenty of options, especially with all of the
hurricane activity down there lately.  If you have a Petsmart near you
they probably have a rescue or adoption agency in there who might be
able to take him. Good luck.

These groups are swamped.  The news reports say they're nearing the
decision to exterminate the animals they have who aren't being picked
up, as well.

That is not true I work at a shelter in Florida that is receiving Katrina
evacuee pets from Louisiana  they are not putting animals down unless it is
medically necessary  Petfinders is putting every animal up on it's website
in order to get them adopted or reunited and if the shelters are getting
over filled the animasl are being shipped to other states
follow the link below to read about it

In

fact, you might consider posting on Petfinder.com. You could post in a
forum for help.

I presume that you contacted the rescue agencies yourself rather than
take the "word" of the media?  The media does like to blow things out of
proportion for their own purposes.

I would not adopt him out to anyone until about a week after halloween
since there are individuals who like to get *free* cats that are pure
black or white for sacrificing or other nefarious purposes. I would
consider posting a free add at petfinder.com if yo haven't already.

I live in southern ca, and cannot take another cat due to lease
restrictions or I would try and help you out? Anyone else that can help?

Good Luck.
