Barnabus had a mat in his fur today! I have never had a cat who had mats in
their fur.  Barnabus as medium length fur. I certainly don't consider him
long hair in the way a persian is long hair but apparently the length of his
fur and the silky, fine texture is going to give him trouble with mats.

I laughed at him today because he appeared to have a cowlick on this back.
I brushed it and it didn't go down. I asked him if he'd turned into a Dennis
the Menace but he just looked at me.  Finally his batteries ran out and he
came to sleep beside me and I found the mat. It took me quite awhile to work
it out but now he is silky smooth again and I've learned my lesson.

Where was the mat?  Rebecca has similar fur, and she occasionally gets mats
on her back near the base of her tail.  The vet said it's hard for them to
groom there.  Fortunately, she loves being brushed so they don't get too bad
if I do my job!

Barnabus, I am a very skilled washer and groomer. I take care of the
brat here (Caliban), and sometimes even Frank allows me to groom him. If
your hoomin just laughs at you again (how rude!), just teleport over and
I will sort out any mats in your fur. In fact, I will keep it so shiny
and well-groomed, you will never get another mat again.

Purrs,
Your Miranda,
whose Meowmie also laughs at her sometimes. So hard to find good staff.

You managed to brush it out? We haven't had issues with mats yet, but
I'm sure Xoxo and Rufous will eventually get them.
