It is that time of year again and I have volunteered to compile the rpca
holiday card list this year since Pam has a lot going on in real life.

There are new members of rpca who probably aren't familiar with our holiday
card list. Each year about this time we invite anyone who is interested to
share their snail mail addressess and join in a holiday card exchange.
*All* members are verified as legitiimate members of the community so your
address won't be shared with anyone that the group doesn't approve. During
the weeks after you receive the list (hopefully around the end of November)
you will begin receiving all kinds of holiday cards from all over the world.
Most will have a cat holiday theme. And of course everyone will receive a
card from you.  It is a lot of fun and makes going to the mailbox each day
an exciting event.

There will also be some names on the list that are listed "receive only".
These are people that for various reasons are unable to send cards but
because we love them we want to include them in the list.  It is up to you
to decide if you want to send cards to these people although several of them
are ill or bedbound and the cards are the highlight of their holiday season.

I have the list from last year and if you know you are on that list and your
address hasn't changed and you want to participate just let me know.
Obviously if you need to change your address you should send that to me.
Please make sure that you are using the email address which you want to
receive the list. When I get your email I will send a brief confirmation
that I received your email. If you don't get a confirmation from me within
24 hours please do not hesitate to question if I received you email.

All email should be sent to me at Gadragonfly at comcast dot net

Hi All,

Just wanted to chime in and add, if you are new to the group this year
and have never participated in the card exchange, please consider it.
Postage is a little expensive and there's some time involved, but that
investment, to me, got returned tenfold. It was just such a joy to see
cards from all over the world, and it really personalizes some of the
friends that I've met online.

I have a suggestion though, wanted to throw this out and see what you
all think. On the list, I had no idea who some of the people were
because their name is so different from their newsgroup-name. Wonder if
we can include the screen name or e-mail name to the addresses?

Can someone who's done this before let me know how many cards, approx,
you've sent out in prior years?

I want to know if I'll be able to save up enough postage money....I
didn't last year due to money concerns.

There were 59 names on last year's list.  I guess about 1/4 to 1/3 were
overseas (to us) so you'll need to figure in extra postage to that.

I spent $13.00 for the overseas postage last year which wasn't too
bad.

I'll have to be on the receive only list again this year. (sigh)  But I'll
put together an e-card which I can email to any who want it.  I'll let you
know when it's done.  Gotta get a great new pic of Persia first :)
