Persia ignores my bird, Peaches, for the most part. Except when I pause to
chat with Peaches, offer her a treat of a slice of apple or a piece of
carrot or some greens, or just to tell her what a sweet pretty bird she is
and let her tug on my hair. Then the green-eyed monster in Persia comes out
(and she does have green eyes!). She starts meowing at me, winding around
my legs. Mom! You aren't supposed to talk to that birdie, you must stop
immediately and pay homage to ME! Jealous little critter :)

This is a funny. Like Persia doesn't get enough attention already. :)
I've noticed this about Betty too, if I pay attention too much to the
mice.
Although actually now "mouse", as I didn't breed any of this litter,
which was born more than two years go, and there's now only one, also
pretty obviously near the end of its lifetime. I've noted that the
last remaining mouse in a litter sometimes gets a bit neurotic,
because mice, being communal, are highly social creatures. This
particular one, Pebbles, was always the most aloof his litter, but now
begs me to pick him up whenever I pass by. I just hold him and stroke
his neck, which he likes, but he's not satisfied. Having had many
mice before, I know what he wants - he thinks that his brothers and
sisters are living somewhere else, and he wants me to let him join
them...

Smokey is the green eyed monster in our house. She loves to push Cali out if
she thinks she's impinging on her territory. Cali gets jealous too, but she
thinks it's undignified to show it.

Nox has told DP off for spending too much time in the morning hugging
me, and not enough time bunting her head.
She sounded so /cranky/ both of us started laughing...
