Stinky is more himself this morning than I have seen him since Dante
came.  He has some of the old bounce in his step, his tail is up in
the air, his eyes are button-bright, and he is looking at me and his
Grandma with the old sweet affection again.

What happened?  I don't know if it's any one thing.  He's still not
happy about Dante, who still pesters him, and he still hisspits when
Dante gets in his face.  But last night, as Dante was romping around,
and leaping over him (he has decided that is hilarious ;)), Stinky
landed a good solid bop on Dante's nose, then chased him upstairs. ;)

I don't know if that was the reason Stinky seems more his old jovial
self this a.m., but maybe he got something out of his system??  ;)

LOL, Cali has had enough of the new upstart too. She had been cutting her
some slack the first little while, especially after her spay. But now that
Cleo is feeling better, she's been giving her the hisspit if she gets too
close. Last night I heard some comotion in the back room and went to
investigate, I found all three girls in close proximity. Cali was swelled up
to twice her normal size and giving Cleo a combination hissgrowl (almost a
caterwaul) and taking a couple of swipes at her head. Cleo thought
discretion was the better part of valour and backed away. Poor Smokey, who
was hiding behind the potted plant, also got a talking to for no particular
reason.

I don't what precipitaed the event, Cali normally reserves her puffy girl
routine for the outdoor creatures.

Some cats seem to have a built in "baby proofing".  They are incredibly
tolerant of very small children, kittens, etc.  Even when you can see all
over their faces it makes them miserable.

Maybe Dante just finally got old enough to bap.

Maybe it was establishing ownership over the litter boxes?  Maybe Stinky
liked the ideas from Pine Cone regarding kitten training.  Whatever the
reason, we all say, "Good Job Stinky!!  Give the little guy what for!"

WTG, Stinky! Frank has been giving Caliban some good baps lately, too. I
think he just didn't want to smack him around too much when he was a
little kitten. Caliban now weighs more than Frank, but he still has a
lot of respect for the old guy. When Frank baps him, he usually lays
down in a submissive way and purrs at Frank.
