Well, I've seen everything.  Just a minute ago, I saw Stinky stalk
into Dante's litterbox, and take an ENORMOUS dump in it, which he did
NOT cover up (Stinky is an enthusiastic burier) before he stalked
off-- all the time looking Dante right in the eye.

Such gestures are completely lost on Dante, who doesn't care in the
least-- indeed, he was like "Be my guest!"  ;)  OTOH, if Dante dared
sully Stinky's box-- well, there's been no bloodshed, but I think that
might do it.

Territorialism.  Yes, it's MINE, not YOURS.  Dante is undoubtedly undanted
because it's new, unestablished territory :)

Kumani loves to wait until we clean the litterbox.  As we tie the
baggie shut, she goes in and has a crap.

EVERY DAY.

Oh this is universal, I believe.  Especially as you change the box,
you're bound to be surrounded by cats with enormous eyes, doing the
"gotta go" dance.

We recently purchased ANOTHER box for the new arrival, and I had no sooner
filled it up when Smokey arrived to christen it.

Miranda usually jumps up on my back while I'm cleaning the litterboxes.
Then she supervises the operation from there.

Persia does the same thing.  A clean box is like a new box.  Oooh, must use
it!

LOL! Frank stopped burying his offerings when Miranda came. He used to
be very fastidious about the litterbox, but now he leaves it all out in
the open. :oP

That's the way the dominant (alpha) cat reminds everyone else just
who's territory it is. Bandit buried his poop during his brief time with
me as an only cat but the day young Pericles arrived it remained
proud & public, as it does six and a half years later on the occasions
he doesn't "go" in the Out.

Peri, Snowball and now Claudius have all understood the message
and did or do bury their offerings deep & thoroughly. Despite the
fact that Bandit's always so kind & gentle towards them, whatever
the (often considerable) provocation.

Bandit is such a gentlecat!  I am still hoping Stinky regains his
equilibrium and can find it in his heart to be gracious to the bit.
