Cute! Thanks for sharing, that's a neat website. I love polys. As they
grow up, they show a remarkable ability to use those extra toes like
thumbs--they are masters at opening cabinets. Here's a pic of one we
got out of muncipal animal control not long ago. "Ernie". Named after
Ernest Hemingway. (I think a lot of polys are named Ernie, LOL)

IIRC, Hemingway owned a lot of polys and the decendents of his cats still
live on his Florida estate which is a musuem.

Great pics, apart from the poor cat wearing a nappy, what's that all
about?

He might have an incontinence problem.

Rusty is missing a toe on each of his paws. It is known as syndactyly and is
pretty rare. The vet noticed it right away when I
took Rusty for his first checkup after I adopted him. He said it
is genetic.
Anyone else has a cat with missing toes?

That's interesting! I have never heard of that. Is there a space
between the toes where one is missing?

Yes, there is a cleft there. I think there is a fusion of the knuckles.
Doesn't seem to affect his jumping and running.

This polydactyl stray
http://community.webshots.com/photo/469942734/469954452INoBha
who adopted my sister's family, was a master at catching flies
out of the air.
My Will, on the other hand, has polydactyl paws which are fairly
slender and *less* useful than most cats' paws. He sometimes
tries to catch things with his mouth in situations where one
would expect him to reach out a paw.

I love kitty tooties. Someday I'm going to be owned by a polydactyl kitty.
They are so cute.
Pam S. who'd probably become a collector if her current brood allowed
oh my god, that's fascinating! Some of those kitties are so cute, especially
the one practicing the ballet move, hehehe.
