A poor family across the woods he ran into had been seeing him in their
storage sheds over the past few weeks and feeding him the occasional can
of cat food. Finally, they saw one of my placards offering a $500
reward and thought an investment in a live trap from Lowe's would pay off.
Well, it did. And I picked The General up this afternoon. I was happy
to write that check and the family looked to need it.
The General has lost a few pounds and has a couple scratches on his
face. He's wandering around the apartment meowing and only calms down
when he's on my lap and kneading my belly. It's sure good to have him back.

He must be as relieved to be back as you are to have him. I hope he doesn't
try that again.

I'm glad General is home! Give him extra loving and hugs and don't open the
door unless you know where he is!

That apparently wasn't The General that the college girl brought over
the other night. I didn't get all that good a look at the cat she
brought. That cat had no collar. The General still had his on, complete
with tag (with my old phone number verizon refused to place a recording on).

I'm so glad you got, The General, back. I do worry though that the cat the
girl brought to you was someones pet, and is now lost somewhere.

Yes, that's a big problem. Now, there may be another lost cat, and it is
out of its own neighborhood. I hope the OP will search for it and place
some posters in the vicinity where it was found (or ask the college girl to
do that if he doesn't know where it is).

I'll definitely walk around a bit and look for him.

How odd! So she picked up an entirely different big cat? I'm very
relieved you found your General.

Delighted for you. Here's hoping he doesn't stray again.

I'm so glad you found him and were also able to help out a family in need.

Maybe that was why The General (I really do love that name) had to escape
for a while.

I'm very happy that you found that General. I know what it is like to lose
and retrieve a cat - there's nothing quite like it.
I'm worried about the other guy though. Do you still have a live trap? It
would be great to catch the one that the girl brought over and reunite him
with his slaves.

I think he (or the college student involved) should post numerous fliers in
the poster where the cat was originally located. That way, the owners would
know where to start looking. The other cat is now lost and is in an
unfamiliar environment -- and anyone looking for him is probably looking in
the wrong places.
