Is everyone okay after all the rain we've had for the past week? I've been
lucky as we live in an area that does not flood. I work at a home
improvement store and we sold out of sump pumps, wet vacs, and
dehumidifiers.

I haven't posted in a couple days, but it's because I've been a
little busy with relatives and work, not because of the
flooding.
We didn't get it too bad here in southwestern Maine -- a few
washouts, but nothing like they got in New Hampshire or the
Connecticut River Valley. My house is never in danger from
flooding.
My poor sister was at an *outdoor* wedding in New Hampshire
yesterday. Luckily it was close to Portsmouth, with no washed
out roads between here and there. The bride wore a white dress
and a green sweater.

I live on a large hill which (from all previous appearances) doesn't
flood. Unfortunately when there's that much water in the ground..... I
was in sunny Florida for a few days and poor DH had to deal with a foot
of water in the basement on top of the unhappy kitties :( We need to
send a nice donation to the Volunteer firemen who came at 2am or so on
Saturday morning and pumped out most of the water. And they don't even
serve our area of town!
The furnace is OK, but we're not sure about the washer & dryer yet. The
kitties are traumatized first by Mommy's disappearance, then not only
didn't Daddy comfort them, he ignored them and made lots of weird noises
in the basement.
Mommy has a lot to make up for it seems :)

We only had a small damp spot in the basement, much better than when we
first bought the house and had water in the basement the first winter!
Other areas in the state were flooded out - people were rescued from
their homes and floating cars by boat. It was impressive seeing fireman
on a main street with life preservers. 500 People were in shelters. I
realize it's much less than the destruction in N.O. (I've done
volunteer work with people who have relocated here), but it's something
we haven't had here in RI in a long time.
As for Casey, he just did a lot of mumbling and begging for us to wave
a magic wand and make that bright thing come back to the sky. Poor
boy, he couldn't use his front porch, it's totally screened in, but the
wind driven rain made everything wet.

Some parts of Connecticut had flooding and roads washed out. The Connecticut
river is over flood stage right now. All the low areas that flood in the
spring are flooded now. I haven't seen much damage around where I live.
The cats weren't happy with a week of rain. They wanted Mommy to make the
sun come out. They just don't understand I can't fix every thing.

Thanks for asking Ann. My Mother is in a nursing home in Woburn,
Massachusetts. The home is located on a hill.
But as it happens the Eastern part of the state is not getting the evil
weather the rest of the state is.
I wish the best to all of you New Englander's, New York, New Jersery, R.I.
and Conn. folks.
We, here in Central Florida are wondering if we are going to have a guest
named Wilma the coming week-end. She will be the 21st named hurricane this
season! We don't want her or need her!!

I hope Wilma leaves you all alone. I read that Wilma was the last name on
the list and the seaon still isn't over. :-(

if there was to be another 'cane. There was an article in the Sunday paper
that explained that the weather service would use Alpha, Beta and so on.
