Yep, that's what they's callin' it. CCC is the "local" TNR
organization, and I had just heard about them (but hadn't gotten a
number) when my friend called. She had purchased two tickets to the
"Fur Ball" (guess it's better than calling it a 'hair ball', though
that was the idea behind it). $25 donation for the ticket, there will
be a silent auction and some "other" things.
Good Lord, I realize I know almost nothing about this. Anyway, we are
going tomorrow night (hmmm) as it goes from 7 pm (1900 hours) until
midnight (oh dark hundred :D). I'm wondering how I'll fair since I
have not got my wheelchair, and standing is a very bad idea. Oh well,
I'll live and probably have a pretty decent time too.
I'm rather looking forward to this, as well as asking how to get my
neighbo(u)rhood on their list, and how to let the neighbo(u)rs know to
keep their cats in during the round up.
I've got new neighbo(u)rs to the North who've got two beautiful baby
boys (kits). They are left out all day, and brought in only at night.
They are un-snipped, I know this because he was quite upset when he
found out my little girl (Seal/Delilah) was fixed. He wanted to breed
her to his Hercules (looks to be the same breed only a long hair,
rather than short). He wanted to know where *I* got off fixing a cat
before they had had a litter! The pig, he just wanted to make some
money (hey I couldn't give away the 3 who look like that, what makes
him think they could be sold?).
I'm tempted not to warn them about the pick up, but that would be cruel
to the kids. Don't give a rat's butt about what "dad" (who calls his
children the most offensive names) thinks, but those kids have it rough
enough without me adding to it.
Yep, I've called the local constabulary about it, and they say call
Social Services. I used to work there, I know how *that* goes (one of
the kids is a foster, he's 8 with 2 felonies according to the cops).
Called SS, spoke to someone I know, explained what was happening, and
got told... Unless someone else heard it, they can't go on *my* word
alone (really? So if he beats the crap out of them with a sand filled
sock and I see it, there's nothing to be done unless someone else saw
it too?).
I've gone over (he's a former cop and morbidly overweight) and asked if
he could tone down the language (I do have the grandbaby here
sometimes). He tells me to close my windows or call SS. I've been
nice about it... Wow, talk about going completely off my stated topic,
I'll do thread drift without any help from anyone else (hee).
Back to the fur ball... I have already discovered, that I can wear my
black tenny treads (trainers, jogging shoes, tennis shoes), with my
black slacks and dark blue shirt. So, I've got what I'm wearing picked
out. Hoping there won't be any dancing or anyone expecting everyone to
dance, since I can't anymore (chair dancing doesn't count <sigh>).
And, and, and, I have a date for a movie on Friday 21 October! My DH
and my best friend are taking me out to see Doom! I'm soo excited.
Haven't been to a film Since December 2003 (Return of the King). I am
so looking forward to that. Two weekends with something planned for
each one! Woo-hoo!
Okay, my long and rambling post has come to a close. Sorry about that,
as I do go on without someone else telling me to hush.
Head-bumps and scritches.

By all means, go to the Ball! The most fun part about events like that
is fellowship with other animal lovers. You'll have a good time.
Our Ball is set for January. It sounds like yours. Ours is a little too
upper-crust for my taste; it's held at the Country Club and is tuxedo
for the men, formal wear for ladies only. I think that keeps a lot of
people from going. We have a Chinese auction, a silent auction, live
auction, dinner and dancing/live music afterwards. It's a good
fundraiser for us. This will be our fifth one.
