Puppy shower

A friend of my mother's is getting a new puppy, so my mother decided to give
her a puppy shower.  She is looking for a game to play at the shower.  She
says, "I like those games where people have questions they have to answer
and then read them out loud.  They always cause a laugh."

Does anybody have any suggestions for a game that I can pass on to her?

I think the shower is a form of therapy, since she lost her little dog a few
weeks ago.

Those are called Mad-Libs.

Sorry, no other suggestions.  I haven't been to a shower of any kind in
years.

Might be fun to make some dog-bone shaped cookies to have as snacks.

I hope the shower (and the new puppy) make her feel better.

I don't either, but I think the idea of a puppy shower is great. ;)

LOL!  I tried it out.  That's a hoot.  I'll definitely pass on the idea.

I haven't been to a shower in years either.

The dog biscuit-shaped cookies would be a good idea, but my mother doesn't
cook much any more.  She has macular degeneration, and when she does try to
cook, she tends to spill things or get the wrong ingredient.

I think you can still buy paper tablet versions of Mad-Libs at card shops.
IIRC you go around the room and ask each person to supply the noun, verb,
adjective, etc. to create the "story" and then one person reads the story
aloud.  Last time I went to a shower where they were doing this everyone
cracked up.  Of course, we'd had a bit of wine to drink, too ;)

Hmmmm.  I don't remember where you are located.  I found some dog-biscuit
cookie cutter shapes online (also kitties!).  You could perhaps buy some
cookie dough and use some cookie cutters.  No muss, no fuss except for her
to follow the time and temp directions on the back of the tube.

I'm in California.  She's in a small town in Alaska.

I went to a baby shower with this game: Everyone had a baby-related word
taped to the back of their shirt so they couldn't see it.  Each person
had to guess what their word was by asking other people questions (like
20 questions).

You could do a celebrities and their dogs game: give one name in the
pair and have the quests guess the other. Most correct wins.

And, give each guest a clothes pin (or some other puppy related object)
at the beginning of the party.  Whenever any guest says "puppy" (or a
dog related word), they lose their clothes pin(s) to the person who
caught them.  Whoever has the most pins at the end point wins.

I would *not* suggest the "guess what flavor (puppy) food this is" (by
taste or smell) game ;)

Sounds like fun.

Well, this may depend on the group, but I remember finding this game
particularly funny.  (And without alcohol,even!)

Everybody gets a piece of paper and pen.  Write down a question on the
paper and pass it to the person to the right.

WITHOUT READING THE QUESTION ON THE FRONT, the person writes down an
answer on the back.  Do not answer your own previous question, and
don't even read the question on the front of your paper. Just write
down an answer, any answer.  Again, pass the paper to the right.

Starting anywhere, read your question and answer aloud, one by one.
Trust me, it's funny.  It can get weird, but that's part of the
fun, isn't it?
