Considering she is now a lady of advancing years, losing the odd fang, this
seems to have no effect on her hunting. The Mighty Huntress has just
dispatched a large adult mole. *Excellent* - she has earned her keep tody -
many is the time I've gone over on my weak ankle on the lawn and ended up
wearing a support bandage thanks to the tunnelling activities of moles in my
garden. She is looking after me!

Can I borrow her?  There is a maze of tunnels in our back yard that make it
hazardous (and messy, after a rain) to walk through, and the ferals don't
seem to be able to handle it at all (maybe we feed them too much?).

Waffles would be welcome here to dispatch of the moles (with some help from
the D-pet, Max, as he dispatched of one the other day... no wonder the cats
are jealous of him :D)

I'll tell her she is required to teleport over ;-)

Waffles constantly amazes me with her hunting prowess. Moles are feisty
things - they will bite and their front paws are strong, as those claws can
move stony ground in seconds. Waffles is minus two main fangs yet this does
not seem to stop her. Perhaps she's gumming them to death!

Way to go, Waffles!

My Kensey RB was good like that too: every day a present or 5.
Some cats have it, others don't. It has a lot to do with their
mother's own ability & how assiduously she trains them, I
believe.  If lack of fangs prevents the customary severing
of the spinal cord, I wonder if Waffles does what the big
cats do: grab them by the front of the throat & asphyxiate
them?

Well she does have delusions of grandeur. She and Francis once stalked a
gaggle of geese across a neighbouring field, a la David Attenborough
wildlife documentary stylee of lions stalking wildebeeste on the Serengeti
plains ;-)

There's also the "break its neck" school of hunting...

...I don't know what school Smokey prefers, but in his feral days he
could bring down jackrabbits as big as he was.

(who wonders if Smokey would hunt if I let him out, or if he'd turn up
his nose and state that he is now a house boy, and doesn't eat such
filth)

I'll never forget the look of astonishment on a neighbour's face years ago
when she stood on my doorstep telling me how, if she hadn't of seen it with
her own eyes she would not have believed it... she'd just seen Waffles clear
a six foot fence with a rabbit clamped firmly in her jaws :)
