I noticed Pippin limping a few days ago, then again Sunday and last
night. Not all the time, and he was putting weight on the leg (left rear).
We headed off to TED today. She thinks it's arthritis, she could feel
it in the hock joint. So we're starting him on Cosequin (glucosamine
for cats).
We also did a follow-up urine test as his last one showed elevated
protein. This one did too, they're doing a detailed protein/creatine(?)
ratio test to get a better idea of what's going on. I should know more
tomorrow.
He's not quite 8 years old. Purrs, please, that we can keep him
comfortable, and help his kidneys with diet for many more years.

He's so young! Many purrs that you can get his kidneys to stabilize.
Purrs for the arthritis, too.

Of course. Here's purring that the treatment works well on the
little guy (it sure does for me and a few others, d-pets as well
as hoomins, that I know) and he gets through to a ripe and fit
old age.

Purrs on the way. Persia is still leaping around like I would imagine a
kitten would. But I've never had a kitten so I truly have no idea. Many
kitty hugs and headbutts on the way.

Sounds like it's been caught early, which is fantastic! Purrs for a
long healthy life of healthy food!

I thought maybe Sugar was the only 8 year old with arthritis!! Her vet
could feel it in both knees and you can literally hear her creak. It
just seemed to start earlier this year. She's had an upset tummy and
don't know what caused it. SHe is back to eating well today. I think we
are going to try getting the food that has cosequin right in it. I
think she might have been sensative to the texture of the powder or
something. (She's funny that way). I hope that Pippin gets more
comfortable. I know it must bother Sugar, but aside from being a little
stiff looking when she's been laying down a while, she doesn't appear
uncomfortable.

Injuries can cause arthritis even when young. I've had arthritis
since I was about 20.

I think Pearl's is from an injury but Sugar has never been injured!

Not that you know of! Think of how good cats are at hiding their pain,
and consider that it could have been something fairly subtle, anyway.
Anyway, it's just a thought. Maybe Sugar's just predisposed to
arthritis.
