Cheryl - 04 Oct 2005 02:25 GMT Does anyone watch the new series Surface? I finally caught an episode tonight after hearing so much about it from friends and others. Just an observation about the baby creature. When the boy was "petting" it, it sounded like it purred. :)

I'm not sure I'm going to stay with it, though it is kind of interesting.
Yeah, it's a burring/purring noise, kinda cute, but that part of the show is what's bothering me about the series.

Just like MINE!) it can be seen on the SCI FI Network as well. They usually show on Sunday there. So, two places to see it, if'n you wanna ;)

Smokie Darling (Annie) ========================================== NBC/Universal also owns the SciFi channel plus several other cable networks. They've started re-airing series that suit other netwoks they own. Suz

I've never heard of this show, but might I ask why the purring noise is 'bothering' you? Just curious.
Azy!
"Unfortunately, I once roomed with a cocker spaniel, and she left a terrible impression of dogs with whomever she met. Her breath was terrible, she reeked of sebaceous oils, she chewed her haunches fanatically, and she was a pathological liar. I learnt quite a few lessons living with her. Firstly, never lay behind a dog who's just dined heavily from the rubbish bin. Secondly, never leave kibble for later if there's a dog about. And, most importantly, never, never trust a cocker spaniel in a balaclava no matter what they tell you." ~~W.C. Humphries II( http://housecatwisdom.blogspot.com/ )

Just curious. Poorly worded there. I meant the part of the show in *that* area (Southern California, young teen or pre-teen with all the ensuing angst, "forced funny" scenes where the "thing" goes running through the house, sister and mom from hell) that I didn't care for. They have other characters that are more believable in situations I can "buy into", just not this kid and his friend.
The little creature is the highlight actually.

I'm starting to think they designed this show with something to annoy everyone. Those kids mother is absolutely unreal. Kids do $14,000 in unexplained damage to the house. Then everyone sits down at the table for a softly lit dinner at the dining room table. And the parents proceed to leave the kids home alone for several days.
They have no clue anything strange or otherwise might be going on? Are the parents aliens from outer space?

Last night was the first time I saw the show so I'm still figuring out the characters. I noticed the sister is really icky, but not unlike most teen girls toward her little brother. LOL
The student-mother-new waitress is likable, easy to feel bad for her trying to convince people of what she saw/heard. I don't know what led up to why everyone is ignoring her about it, so I have to catch up on that part.
Seemed like an ok show if you like Sci Fi.

So far the only "bad guys" seem to be the government guys doing a cover-up. The "sea monster" really hasn't DONE anything, yet - I'm not so sure the people who have disappeared won't turn up again.

So far I like it - didn't expect to, but it seems to be a lot more than just another "monsters threaten mankind" sort of flic. (And I think the baby "sea monster" ias adorable.)

I'm confused between Surface, Invasion, and whatever the third one is. Can't keep them all straight!

I only like a few shows, and LOST is one of them, 24 is another. Surface sounded ok so had to figure out what the hub bub was (at least among those I know who like it).

"Surface" has sea monsters (purportedly) - the others I've not yet encountered - their trailers turned me off before I even tried to watch them.

I can't believe they're planning it as a "monster movie" - the baby critter is too cute!
