Silver is very much a Daddy's Girl. If John's home, she won't be far
from him - usually either placed stragically on his chest between his
face and the laptop, or sitting on the back of his chair when he's
told her to move her furry rear or else! Will she come to me and let
daddy work in peace? Of course not! She's all his (or he's all
hers...)
There's only one time of the day when she leaves daddy alone and
prefers me... actually two. The first is when I feed them and do
litterbox patrol - she feels it her sacred duty to supervise me and
make sure I don't get the kibble and the litter confused, and that the
box is raked evenly and the poopies appropriately disposed of in the
porcelain throne.
The second time that she's almost magnetically attracted to me is at
four o'clock in the morning... she's not there when I go to sleep,
because Scout claims the snuggling position in the evening, but if I
wake up in the middle of the night, Scouty's gone, and Silver's
snuggled up to my side at the edge of the bed (and if the
air-conditioners turned down particularly low, they're BOTH there).
Last night we were up late because I was watching the ice skating
championships, and it was midnight before we put out the light and
went to sleep... I was in the middle of a dream when I heard a loud
MEOW! I pried open my bleary eyes, but not fast enough... MEOW! MEOW!
ME-OW! What was wrong? Was she sick? Did she break something and hurt
herself? Nope... She was sitting by the side of the bed with her head
up next to my ear, telling me that I was too close to the edge of the
bed and there wasn't any room for her! I gave her head a quick scritch
and she purred, then I told her to go away and let me sleep because it
was only six am. When I woke up again it was eight o'clock and she'd
obviously been visiting - she left her favourite mousey lying in 'her'
spot beside me, and I doubt she was trying to say 'sorry for waking
you up'...

Silver is sweet! I also have experience being woken up when I'm not
sleeping in the correct slave position.
