I mentioned a stray kitten a few days back, well here it is:
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/will_stock/detail?.dir=/8c08&.dnm=b133.jpg&.src=ph
I was concerned about being a cat napper at the time, but so far it's turned
into more of a home invasion. We've been letting it sleep in the basement at
night with the window open. But it's always sleeping on the back porch in
the morning. It was outside today, but wanted back in right away.
It's a real cuddlebug, but is also very timid. It seems to have suffered a
recent trauma. It will be getting it's chip checked (unlikely) and blood
tests next week. It's been doing a lot of sleeping, not energetic like most
kittens.
You can see from the pic it's a striped Calico with BIG ears. It looks to be
about six months. I can't tell if the mark on it's nose is natural or an
injury. It's possible it's pregnant, but we're hoping not. It seems to be in
very good shape for a stray, so it's either a recent drop off or a lost
kitty. We've been keeping our eyes on the paper and will canvas the
neighbours.
There were five kittens bouncing around this spring, three Calicos and a
couple of Tabbies. I tried to catch them without success. It's unlikely this
is one of them though, as it's too well looked after. although it is a
little distrusting of people.

What a beautiful little girl! I love her stripey calico colours! She looks
truly at home.

I just said the same thing. She looks a lot like my aunt's cat,
Betsy. Betsy was the tiniest adult cat I'e ever seen.

She is sweeet!!! American short hair mixed tabby like my TuTu. She
definitely is cuddle bug material. Good luck. MLB

The best caption for the picture would be, "Guess my name!" She
doesn't consider herself a guest at all, that's way too temporary a
term.
By the way, I looked at other pix in your album. I thought my cats
were pampered, but I've never uprooted a whole catnip plant for them.
Do your kitties know how good they have it? :-)

I was thinking of asking the group for names, but that will have to wait a
couple of weeks until we're sure of her disposition. At this point it looks
good, she has no desire to leave. The only concern I have is her lack of
HooliKittenism, seems rather strange for a kitten her age. maybe she's just
adapting to her surroundings. She doesn't seem to have any concept of play.
I suppose this could be a symptom of her outdoor life.

The girls say all kitties should live this way. Cali has us very well
trained.

I thought it (she) looked a little like your Caliban. Is Caliban a Calico?
I wouldn't think so, since 99.99% of Calicos are female.

I didn't notice that she was a calico, I just saw those well-defined
stripes on her front legs, just like Caliban's. Caliban is all tabby,
with a spotty tummy.

Here's a pic of her Calico side. She's a TabiCo or a CaliTab. :)

So pretty and dainty. Some cats (and even kittens) aren't players until
they are taught how to play. I can't wait to hear about her vet check.

She's so cute! Why do you call her it?

I noticed that when I reread the message. I guess I don't want to get too
attached, in case we find her owner. The other concern is her relations with
"the girls". So far it's been fairly peaceful, but not a lovefest either.

Bill! I'm so glad you got her! Purrs for negative tests. She's
probably malnourished and will bounce back with good care. She's
beautiful. I love the rest of the pics of your kitties, too. I see
you have another calico. The Queen. :)

Thanks.
The new kitrty is a bit of a canundrum.
Eats like a horse. I was trying to feed Cali her treats today and Cleo kept
sticking her head in front of Cali to try and hoover them up first. Cali was
most tolerant of this impudence. :)
Seems to be leary of other cats, smack first and ask questions later.
Although she did share a window with Cali today. Cali has had kittens in the
past, so she understands the youth thing a little better.
Very subdued, doesn't seem to play much. Although she has shredded Smokey's
favourite Lemon, looks like a it was through a tree chipper. She has also
destroyed a scratching circle, a couple of mousies (toy) and tried to climb
my back. :) We also had a rousing game of string yesterday.
Sleeps alot. Has a mild case of fleas, but no apparent worms. No hairball
issues.
Very clingy, cries if I'm out of site for more than a few minutes. Even if
she's the one who wandered off. :)
VERY good about the litter box, only had to show her once.
No real desire to go back outside, except to watch the birdies. She was out
a few days ago and a Blue Jay was a few feet away and she did not pounce.
Although we did find a disembowelled mouse on the deck soon after she first
started showing up.
It seems she must have been in a house at some point, but we can't be
certain. No ads for her in the paper or on the web so far though.

Well, all that toy destruction shows she isn't abnormally sleepy.
Sounds a bit like a southern bell.
