They say cat's don't go for sweet things, which is true in Otis's case,
unless it's creamy too. Well tonight I was eating a blueberry muffin
in front of the TV, and as usual when I eat something, he shows
interest and I let him smell it and he decides bleurgh, veggie crap,
not interested, goes back to sleep. I always let him have a sniff just
to reassure him that it's not very interesting. Not tonight! He went
crazy sniffing it, so I broke off a very small piece, which I do
sometimes to see what he does, usually he kicks it like a football when
he realises it's not cat-edible, Well blow me down with a feather, he
only ate it and then begged for more! I gave him a teeny piece as he's
diabetic and I wasn't sure that it was too good for him, then I felt a
bit guilty as if I'd teased him and then didn't come through with the
goods. It was very funny though, he's never shown interest in any sort
of cake before, I wonder why this time?

Jasper will quite happily eat bread (he's diabetic too). I have to time
throwing out stale bread for the birds, otherwise he'll eat it.
He went for another blood sugar test today, and the vet's delighted with
him - levels perfect :-)

Told this story before but... When I first moved to the woods, 9yrs ago,
the deer were vey tame - presumably the previous people here fed them.
You're not supposed to give them bread but once in awhile I would enjoy
the "nature" thang. Once, with Max between my legs, I dropped a piece
of bread in front of the doe and as she reached for it Max darted out,
grabbed it and ate it. "This is MY hoomin and MY food". Never saw him
eat bread before or since.

It's so nice to get that kind of news. And to read it. Purrs

Yay! I have to join the chorus. I saw *my* doc yesterday and my
long-term blood sugar was purrfeck!

Bonnie always comes sniffing if I'm eating a sandwich. The first
time it happened, I thought she was after the meat. Nope, it was
the bread. So now, I just ignore her and don't give her any. She
doesn't need the carbs.

No, neither does Otis, nor the sugar or blueberries - but then neither
do I! Supposed to be on a pre-hol diet so I can get in my bikini,
haha, just ordered a swimming costume just in case. Was really good
yesterday, made home made lentil soup which was very filling, or was
until about 10pm when we decided to have some Indian - oops!
