Hi all,

Betty seems to be doing well, all things considered.  She's very happy
and healthy, but I'm pretty sure that this will have been our last
summer together.

Betty's undergone three radiation treatments, with no improvement, so
her oncologist's opinion is that this method of treatment has failed.
Betty is now switching over to chemotherapy, and she had her first
dose today.  The oncologist doesn't think this will work either, but
we're trying it anyway, because there's nothing else.

Betty is giving me a puzzled look right now like, "What is this all
about??"
Karen - 20 Sep 2005 17:40 GMT
Oh Tak, I'm just so sad to hear it is not going as hoped. It is true, they
do not understand the medicine. Give her a kiss for me.

I'm sorry the prognosis isn't hopeful but that she's happy and getting
along, it's a blessing.  May it go on as long as she has.  Norm

Aw, Tak, this is breaking my heart - I can't even imagine how hard it is for
you.  Purrs coming that the time you have remaining to you two is quality
time and that the end will come gently and peacefully.

Hugs,

Oh, right now it's not very hard, because she's still feeling fine.  I
feel as though she's in the honeymoon phase of this new journey.

I so wished that the prognosis were better.  I hope this honeymoon
lasts a long while...

Many, many purrs.

I'm sad to read this.  I am still praying that something will work for her,
it seems so unfair as you love each other so much.

That's so heartbreaking.  I really hoped the treatment would
give you more time with her.

Our best wishes for Betty to be comfortable, and for you to be
comforted.

I'm going to go give my two some extra hugs and skritches.

I'm very sorry, Tak.  Wishing you both the very best.  It sounds like
Betty is tolerating her treatments well, at least.

We are all purring as hard as we can here for you and Betty, Tak. So
very sad to read these words from you. It's a bit different, but it's
reminding me of how I felt when I discovered my first foster cat that
was homed, a young black kitten-cat called Digby, had been killed by a
car. He was just 7 months old. I couldn't even look at the kitten food
in the supermarket without feeling terrible for ages. The only way to
find some consolation was to tell myself that even though his life had
been far too short, we none of us know how long we have, so the fact
that he had had a home of his own, however briefly, was the most
important as far as he was concerned. Not a great deal of consolation,
especially when you are powerless to save the one you love, but a small
thought, anyway.

That does sound terrible.  And I can understand how things remind you.

I'm so very sorry to hear this Tak.

When Sir William went to RB, he had only been in my life for 6 months.
Someone sais to me that maybe he had done his job, and it was his time
to move on to a different place. When i think about it, that cat helped
me through a really tough 6 months of my life. We met by accident - I
went to his foster moms house to see my new kitten and came home with
him instead.

Enjoy and cherish every moment that Betty is with you.
