Hi all: Sometimes when Otis is particularly in the mood for and happy with his scritches, he gets his purr motor revved into overdrive and starts meowing at the same time. Same with the sudden shaking of the head and drool goes flying everywhere. Including the face and mouth. Melissa Muscat purrs & eats at once, it's a loud,slightly messy sound of appreciation. PrrrrrrKKKKKKrrrrrKKKKKKrrrrrrKKKKK... one of my favorite sounds of all time. :o) Captain doesn't seem to realize that it's possible to vocalize with his mouth open. His normal utterance is s closed-mouth MRRRRRP combo of a meow and a purr. He's also prone to LOUDLY purr his contentment when he's happy, and when he doesn't want to be picked up, he'll utter a high-pitched, closed-mouth little squeak noise. Stanley rarely meows. If he does, it's normally while standing at the food bowl while I'm preparing to fill it. Then he'll let out a high-pitched "Aaa" squeak. He also normally purrs quietly, so that you have to be in contact with him to feel it. However, in the past few days, he's actually let out some purrs that were audible from a distance. Sounded like he was drowning! Frank did that after I found him when he had been AWOL for five weeks. He slept and ate for three days or so, and every minute he was awake he was talking, talking, talking, even when he was eating. He drops his head back, rolls his eyes up, opens his mouth so you can see his 2 remaining dracula fangs and dribbles.
