I have to give the fur ball tablets. Tried the vet instructions (tilt head
back, open jaw and put pill right at back). You have to be joking! Even with
two of us we didn't manage it. He was frothing at the mouth and drooling
everywhere. Tried the stealth method today, pill hidden in normally not
allowed tuna. He sussed that one out and refused to eat it. Hmmmm... has
anyone any ideas?

Poor you , It's nearly impossible pilling a cat that doesn't want to
be pilled:(
I give my cat Defurrum Furball protector, its a paste and I mix it
with her food and fortunately she likes the taste. She also eats fresh
grass which helps with furball.

I would suggest using a piller. It's the best way because it forces the
pill down their throat (so they don't taste it) while protecting your
fingers.

I second that. It's worked well for me with Cosmo, to the point where
I no longer have to use it (he's on Lasix twice a day).

We had to buy a piller from our vet (about $7 Cdn). It looks like a
syringe (without the needle) and the pill is pushed straight to the
back of the throat. Once done, keep holding the cat and put a little
bit of butter on the cat's nose. Hold the cat until he licks it, and
that means the pill is down.

Check with your vet if it is ok to coat with a thin coat of butter.
Helps a bunch. A pill popper works even better (vet should have). Or,
if it is OK to crush pills (check with vet, most are according to my
vet) crush them fine and put in food. (This is how Pearl takes all her
meds.)

Otis has to have a tablet every day, as well as 2 injections. I crush
the tablet up with a small amount of food, and feed him it when he's
really hungry (which in his case is about 24 hours a day:) - it's got a
yeast flavour apparently, which they're supposed to like, and he eats
it, then I give him his proper meal. Maybe I'm just really lucky but I
find it much easier this way than forcing it down his throat. He also
knows that when he's had his shot he gets a big cuddle and "good boy"
fuss, and looks round waiting for me to do it.

Sorry I can't help with ideas, but I do hope someone finds a solution to
your problem.
Best wishes,

There are furball ointments in tubes. These are easy to use. I squeeze
out about a quarter of an inch and let the cat lick it off. Then I
squeeze out more until she has consumed about an inch of the stuff. It
has flavor the cat likes. Petromalt, Femalt, Lac---something These are
available in Pet stores. Much easier than a pill. Good luck.
