RPCA:  Update:  Arthur is home

Arthur is home, but this took a toll on the poor guy :-(  He would not
eat at all yesterday, and did not bounce back like some of the other
cats have done after a neuter.  We also had an x-ray done before the
neuter, because he tends towards heavy respiration.  Bad news there,
too:  he has asthma.  Yes, another cat with asthma.  They gave him a
Depo-II shot (I assume that is a newer version of Depo-Medrol?) and we
shall see if that makes a difference.

Today, he finally ate a couple of treats, so I am hoping to feed him
his regular food here shortly and that he will happily eat it.

He has not been very active, and this guy is a monkey cat normally, I
swear!  It's probably a good thing, since he isn't supposed to do
running, jumping and climbing for awhile.

They also ran pre-anesthesia bloodwork, and all was perfect in that,
thank heavens.

So it looks like a slower recovery than I was hoping for, but he is
home, and loved, and starting to eat a bit.

Thanks for all your purrs, especially in the midst of the current
madness.

Ginger-lyn

Kitties are like people: some simply 'bounce back' more quickly than others.

In no time, Arthur will be back to driving you crazy! (In a good way of course!)

Glad to hear he is home and on the mend.

Purrs for him to be back to normal soon.

I wouldn't worry about this: as you have already observed, recovery
times vary widely. My most macho boy, Aries (RB), took his op. hard
and was mopey for 3 days, while Snowball the Ragdoll, tho' initially
pretty miffed & sorry for himself, was his bouncy normal self in
24 hours.

Purrs again for Arthur

Lots of purrs for a full recovery!

Glad that Arthur is home, and on the mend.  When Leonidas had his "big
snip", he was a little piqued (or peak - ed as my mom would have said)
for about 24 hours after he came home.  Here's hoping that he is back
to his more normal self now.

Sorry to hear about the asthma, but as has been said it's more easily
treated than a heart problem.

I hope he gets back to his old self rapidly.  As others have noted, not all
cats react the same way.  I'm sure Arthur will bounce back in no time!

Poor baby. Purrs for his continued improvement. So sorry to hear about
the asthma, but at least that can be managed.

He's bouncing back now :-)  And he is so smart!  I can't keep him from
climbing or jumping (I call him my "little monkey cat", if that gives
you an idea of his normal behavior), but he is slowly "hopping" on the
stairs so as not to injure himself.  He's back to sitting in my lap,
and purring, headbutting and eating ravenously.  I'm so proud of him!

Such good news, I'm so happy for you and Arthur.  (We have two new kittens
that adopted us, the little tykes just moved in uninvited!)
