Skeeter has made the trip to the Rainbow Bridge.

For the past several days, she would eat only if I put a few pieces of
dry food in front of her.  She still ate very little, and later she
threw up everything she had eaten.  She was getting progressively
weaker.  Last night, rather than spend the night on my bed, as she had
been doing, she chose to hide in the closet.

This morning I had some medical tests, and since I was put out, my
daughter came to drive me for the tests.  This afternoon, after holding
Skeeter on my lap for a while, my daughter drove us to the vet for that
last trip.  I was glad my daughter was here, so I could hold Skeeter in
the car rather than putting her in the carrier.

Thanks again to Gennie for bringing the supplies to me.  The needles you
brought were smaller than the ones I had, and made the last two
infusions easier.  One of my daughter's cats is getting up in years and
recently tested borderline for CRF, so I gave her the supplies to have
on hand.

Thanks to everyone for the purrs, prayers, and good wishes.

I can't write any more right now.

Dear Joy, I am so sorry to hear this, after all you've done for Skeeter to
keep her strong and improver her quality of life.

She is now a youthful catspirit in the place where it is always summer, and
it wouldn't surprise me if little Hannah Eve would be the first one to
welcome her, to have a friend and playmate in the Heavens.

I am glad that you got to be there with Skeeter. I had to give my Fritzie
infusions for nearly two years; and since he was a young cat, my constant
prayer was that when his time came, he not go alone. My prayer was answered
in that I got fired from my day job the day before we had to take him to the
vet, and he went to the skies purring as we said our prayers and the vet did
her humane duty. Skeeter surely must have known the comfort and joy in her
last moments, of her dear companion being there.

Purrs and prayers from us all, that you be strong and find healing.

Blessed be,
Baha

Thank you everybody for the good thoughts, hugs, and purrs.  There were
so many caring messages, and I'm crying too hard to respond to each
individually.  Please know that I read and appreciate each one.  The
love in this group is incredible!

I almost didn't post about Skeeter, because Grace's loss, and the others
who have lost human loved ones this week, were so terrible, but this
group has shown concern about Skeeter, so I felt I should let you all
know.

Thanks again, everybody.  Your sympathy and understanding helps a lot.

A loss of a loved one is hard, and we all care. Whether it's human or

Oh Joy, of course you should post about Skeeter here.  It is devastating to
lose someone you love, whether or not they are covered in fur, and when the
loss is *yours* to bear then it is the most devastating thing in the world
to you.

Also, you mentioned that you were single and dealing with Skeeter's illness
on your own.  Well, you need a support group around you right now, and even
though we can't hug you in person to help you mourn for your loss, we can
send cyber hugs, tears, warm thoughts and lots and lots of purrs to help you
through your grief.  And we can be here for you when you are ready to write
about Skeeter and the life you had together.

Hugs,

Thank you, CATherine.  I think you're right about both of us knowing
when.  The last time I held her on my lap in the living room, where se
laid so many times, she laid crossways at first, as she always did.
Then she turned to face me, and looked intently into my face for a
minute or two.  I had a feeling she was telling me it was time to let

We recently had an experience like that. My lady friend had decided a
14-year-old cat was getting tired of life.  I disagreed, and indeed
offered to take him -- but, of course, I didn't see him all day. When
she took him on the last trip to the vet, he didn't complain at all as
he usually did, purred constantly as he had not done in a while, and
cuddled almost joyously, not flinching in the slightest when the needle
went in -- and then the purring suddenly stopped.

From the knowledge I had, I wouldn't have done it, but it sounds like
Sugar felt it was time.
