Silly's lying on the scanner next to me, one of her favourite sleeping
spots... I jsut noticed twitching paws out of the corner of my eye and
when I turned around to look at her properly I could see that she's in
a dream state - her whiskers are flicking and her front paws are
twitching and her eyes were tracking something - all while she's fast
asleep! It's very peculiar to watch...

Scouty does it too... only her eyes kind of roll back into her head
when she has a bad dream - it was rather alarming to see because it
looked like she was having a fit or something! But it was just a kitty
nightmare and she was fine after I stroked her and soothed her and
woke her up... poor baby...

eerie in deed!  Sassy use to sleep like that, eyes open doing upside
downy head, looking right at you not seeing anything.

I've never seen it in a cat (but then, Persia is my only cat).  But I have a
brother who sleeps like that.  When we were on family trips I discovered he
slept with his eyes half open.  First time I saw it (family was all crammed
into a motel room with me on the roll-a-way cot) I was very young and
thought he was dead.  It's very creepy.

Don't know about cats, but my son slept like that as a baby. i was terrified
of SIDS and it used to creep me out, I'de have to go in and poke him gently,
just in case. Now he's older, he has very vivid dreams that he remembers and
tells me about. So maybe your cat is a vivid dreamer too!
