Regarding Demi's Story

Sorry if this was an inappropriate time to post this - I don't mean to make
light all the grief that people are feeling right now.  I did this *because*
of the grief I was feeling.  Writing helps me take my mind off of sad
things - it let's me escape to another world where bad things can't touch
me.

Please note that although Demi had just as hard a time as Bandit did when
she was just a little kitten, I did not write this in the dark manner I did
Bandit's story, so even though it's initially a bit sad, don't worry, it
ends really happily for all concerned.

I think this is a very appropriate time for a post like this.  We need
some lightness right now.  It is a delightful way of telling what could
be a very sad story, except for the ending.  Thank you for posting it.

Don't feel bad, CatNipped, about posting this.  After the day that we
have all had it's nice to be able to read something that's not going
to bring tears.  I hope today isn't going to be any indication of what
the rest of the week is going to be like.

Thank you Nan.  I hope so too - I don't think I could take any more sad
news.

Good news and happy endings are always appropriate.  Life is
bittersweet -- thanks for adding a little of the sweet to the bitter
that we've so recently had.

Thanks O J.  I was hoping that it might lighten a few spirits.  This group
is so caring, and that means when something tragic happens it can hurt
really badly.

Wholeheartely agree, we certainly need a happy ending to keep the
purrs going out on this terrible string of bad news. I suspect, like
everyone else, I had a tough time reading the group yesterday (in fact
I went to bed without reading everything, which is unusual, but just
didn't want to read any more bad news).

Thanks Steve, I had a hard time yesterday too.  The story was my own
personal form of therapy.

No need to apologize. It is a sweet, lovely tale and it reaffirms life.
There is no better tribute than that.

Thanks Karen, I was hoping that it would - kitties are very life affirming.

On the contrary. It was delightful and we could all use some giggles between the
stuff on the newsgroup and the stuff on the news. I loved it!

Blessed be,

Thank you Singh.  Between all that is happening in the group lately, and all
that is happening in the news, I needed to forget for just a little while.

Happy stories keep us going even in the darkest of times. You keep our
spirits up so we are not overwhelmed with grief and illness and other
bad news. Keep writing.

Thank you CATherine.  I am feeling a bit overwhelmed myself.  Having
children, and brothers, and friends (who also have children) I can too
easily put myself in the shoes of those who are suffering a loss, and that
empathic feeling is devastating - how much more so it must be for them!
Purrs are still going out to all broken hearts today.

Don't be sorry. On the conrtary, it's nice to read something lighter in
the midst of all the tragedy. I really enjoyed Demi's story. She must
have been the bravest, strongest, most nonchalant, most magnanimous,
smartest little kitten around. ;o)

Lucy's Mom - 15 Sep 2004 02:34 GMT
Please don't apologize!  It was a wonderful story and I loved it!

--Kim and Lucy, who doesn't have nearly as interesting a story as many
of the felines here.  Her mom was a pregnant stray taken in by a vet
tech at my vet's office.

Thank you Kim.  Writing the story made it easier for me to handle all the
sad news on the group the past few days.  As far as Lucy goes, she should
count herself very lucky to *not* have an interesting story! ;>

No need to apologise, cat stories are appropriate anytime, including the
bittersweet ones.

Thanks Adrian, I was hoping that people here would understand that this was
my way to "escape" the bad for just too short a while.
