I bought a new toaster today - not a toaster oven, just a plain,
garden-variety toaster that will toast two, not four, slices of
bread at once. The box it came in was just big enough to hold it
along with some packing stuff.
The nanosecond the box was emptied, Roxy claimed it as her space.
She's able to fit her body in it, but her feet stick out, as does her
tail. I played with her for a while, using a rod from some now-
defunct levelor blinds (those things make great kitty toys). She
loves to attack the vicious sticks from within the shelter of a box.
A little while later, I walked by the living room and I could see the
box on the floor. Overflowing it was a pair of pink-padded rear
feet, the levelor rod with a white front paw on top of it, and a
dark, stripey tail swishing around. Of course, I ran to get my
camera. Unfortunately, that piece of junk, which is worth every penny
I paid for it ($0), was not functioning at the moment. It works
intermittently, but usually stops whenever the cats are doing
anything photo-worthy.

LOL!
Can she get her body out of it now, or will she walk around with it looking
like a tortoise?

Today's special: Rox in a Box! Too bad you couldn't get a shot of it.
They always seem to get into the best mischief when you can't capture it!
Blessed be,
Baha

I hate that stupid camera. As soon as I find gainful employment I will
get myself a decent one!
I forgot to mention that when Roxy first got into the box, it was lying
sideways on the floor. I turned it upwards so I could look down into the
box and see its contents: a very packed-in cat. I then closed the top so
that she was completely enclosed in the box, picked the box up, and carried
it into the living room. There's a bit more space for me there to swing the
box back and forth, which I did for about 20 seconds, because Roxy loves
"rides". When that was done, I set the box down on the floor and opened
the top. Roxy was all curled up and looking up at me delightedly - and
then she streaked out of there and careened around the house at top speed.
Finally, she came back to the box and zapped herself inside, where she
remained for the next couple of hours.

Roxy is such a funny little cat. This is why I put her under the
"Fearless Cats" category a while back. Smudge or Licorice would
probably consider these ride to be cat abuse. :)

Smudge, yes. But actually, Licorice seems to be watching Roxy and learning
a few things. For example, a while ago he saw me spinning her around in
my office chair, and after she'd taken off for a race around the house,
he decided to jump into the chair and find out what the fuss was all about.
So I spun him around too, and he liked it. Now he regularly jumps into the
chair and then meows at me loudly to get cracking and spin him.
One time, he didn't dig his claws deeply enough into the fabric of the
chair, and the centrifugal force of the spinning sent him flying off. He
didn't get hurt (except for his dignity), but he did get up off the floor
and sort of wobble around dizzily for a few seconds. I don't think I'd
ever seen a cat stagger before. :) It was a good learning experience for
him - now when he goes for chair rides, he always remembers to dig in
deep to hold himself in place!

Jessie *LOVES* this ride. She'll jump up into my chair, before I can sit
down, and beg for me to start spinning.

How cute! How typical of your camera to act up right at that moment
though! Would have loved to see that picture :-)
