My cat always brings them to me , but I don't know good recipes...

One of the Iron Chefs poured Coca-Cola on chicken before baking for
around 45 minutes at approximately 350-400. It's supposed to make a
heluva barbecue sauce. I don't know how well it works on mice. they've
neve been featured on Iron Chef.

Blessed be,
Baha

i just dump them in the cat-food bowl...
if they eat it, good,
if they don't it gets binned...

this is how i teach them the things
they catch *are* for eating...

the injured but live mice go back outside
to crawl away or get dealt with in round 2....

i always thank the cats for presents,
and tell them what clever pussies they are...

they managed to pull a very much alive
and amazingly uninjured woodpigeon
in through the catflap once...
i still don't know how...

Mouse should be served 'au Tartare'.  Here's a recipe.

Unfortunately, the recipe originally called for a pound of good beef,
so you'll need a one pound mouse to make the recipe work.

>2 egg  yolks.
>2 tsp. cracked mustard or Dijon mustard.
[quoted text clipped - 6 lines]
>3 tsp. capers, drained.
>6 stalks parsley, finely chopped.

>Sea  salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste.
>Whisk egg yolks, mustard, Worcestershire sauce and hot
[quoted text clipped - 11 lines]
>well combined. Adjust seasonings.  Divide between
>2 plates and serve with pommes frites.

Mouse taste like chicken anyway...

So fire up the Barby, skewer a few mice, onions and cherry tomatoes.
Sprinkle with garlic, salt and olive oil. Sear the kebabs on high heat for a
couple of minutes and continue cooking on medium until mouse is cooked.

Oh yeah, save some for the cat.

An excellent idea. I would marinate the kebabs in an orange-ginger sauce, or
brush with KC masterpiece.

Baha

Hmmmmm,  Orange and Ginger Mouse Kebabs.

That does it, I'm off to the curry place for some Vindaloo.

Mouse Biryani, a curried rice dish, would work well also. The curry, almonds
and currants would offset the delicately gamey flavor of field mouse with a
delightful balance.

Perhaps Mouse Tikka! One of my favourites.

Mouse would be a nice addition to samosas as well. The small, hors-d'oeuvre-y
quality of the average mouse would work well with the usual samosa fillings of
potatoes, peas and onion, and again work well with their typical spiciness.

I prefer my wild wood fresh, raw and at body temperature. The fat one here
likes cold mouse tartare. Last night she put her foot in a cold and wet
offering of mouse tartare left by Francis. He'd regurgitated, sorry, prepared
it a little time before espcially for her. I could tell she was thrilled as she
immediately danced around the house with accompanying squeals of delight. She
went to speak to her friends Huey and Bart via the big white telephone in the
bathroom. They must be deaf, though, as she was shouting their names out very
loudly.

Purrs, Waffles

(human note: - no, I really, really didn't appreciate being left a
regurgitated, partially-digested mouse right on the spot where, in the dark, I
put my foot before climbing into bed.)

Ahhhh, mouse tartare! A gourmet offering. Me thinks Francis enjoys watching Iron

With a flourish Chairman Kaga unvails todays secret ingredient !!!!!!! How do
you spell mouse in Japanese Tak?  The mice of course would be of the highest
quality. I wonder if Kobe Mice exist. Forgive me for the Iron Chef newsgroup is
basically dead so I couldn't resist going off on an IC tangent.

Tokyo X mice, I should think. I'd love to see Hosoki-san the fortune-teller: "This
looks perfectly awful, but the taste is quite nice!" Such a wordsmith, that good
lady.

Allez cuisine!!!

But don't be surprised if the cat will have none of it!
Many of you have mentioned your cats liking scrambled eggs,
but Mélisande certainly showed only momentary interewst when
I dropped a large forkful on the floor during breakfast this
morning!  (I think it was the pico de gallo salsa and/or the
melted cheddar that she objected to, though.)

True, even Smokey the moocher has her dislikes. Pretty much any fast food
(sausage, hamburgers, tube steaks) should be buried quickly if offered. Beef
and chicken are acceptable, as long as they're not too hot and are not over
cooked. Smokey says no Pork products, she's kosher. Of course you all know
about her cheese addiction.

But the cut of meat also seems to matter. We cooked a chicken on the
rotisserie (BBQ) yesterday, which always gets Smokey up on the seat of the
chair behind me.  You see this nose peaking out under your arm and the
occaisional paw trying to reach the plate. So we gave Smoke a few pieces of
breast meat, but she came back for more. So I gave here a piece of my leg,
but she wanted no part of it. Offered her some more white meat and she
gobbled it right up.
