Back on after computer problems...and pictures of Vino!

Well, it hasn't been the best few days.  My TV is still broken and is
waiting for a part...who knows how long it will take to get back.
My maid is quitting at the end of the year because one of her other
houses has fired her :-(  So now she doesn't have enough work around
here and is going back to her province to work on the banana
plantation.  I'm very sad because she was very nice and shy and quiet
and she was good with Vino when we go away.
My computer went funny on me and suddenly Outlook Express refused to
open.  I tried to use Agent but it was still set up for my old news
server and I didn't know my password for individual.net.  Finally, in
a flash of insight that I will never understand where it came from, I
typed in a password (not one that had chosen myself, it was given to
me) and it worked!  I got on Agent and subscribed to an OE newsgroup
and from there got some info on how to fix my problem.  I fixed it but
lost all my messages and had to start from scratch.  This takes me
ages because my connection is only 26.4 kbps.
Then it happened again!  OE wouldn't open and I had to go through the
whole thing again and research for more fixes to prevent this from
happening again.  I was supposed to go to a party on Saturday night to
watch my friends play in their band, but by the time I finally had
everything fixed, I was too fed up and cranky to go out.
So everything's working now and I've probably lost a few days worth of
posts.  I just want to apologize if I haven't sent out any purrs
lately.  Vino and I are purring for everyone who needs it.
I also wanted to let everyone see Vino's great new table upstairs in
the bedroom.  It's perfect for him :-)

Also, Vino has more bananas to guard and this time he has some pomelos
too!

These are both great pictures. Vino looks quite comfortable in his new
table. How nice of you to get it for him! And that shot of him next to
the bananas is very cute - he looks so coy, turning round to look back
at you like that.

Oh, what a snug little kitty! That's a wonderful table for Vino.

And he looks so proud to own all that fruit.

Purrs that you find another maid who is as good as this one, and for
your computer probs to be over.

Sounds as though you could use a few purrs yourself.  I hope your
computer problem stays fixed.

Whoever designed that table, must love cats =o) Now Cesca will want one!
Thanks for sharing a great picture.

A good caption for that photo might be  "Want a Banana Split?"  =o) Vino is
certainly well-supplied. At first, I just saw the bananas, then I reallized
"Oh, that's Vino's back end!"

I'd be really looking hard to find another house or two for the maid so she
can stay as long as you need her.  Or if you know the other houses she still
has you could all get together to keep her busy enough to want to stay.

I'm afraid I'd be pretty useless at finding her another house.  The
only people I know in this (very small) town and pilots and engineers
who do 6 week tours and stay in a fully serviced hotel.  There's one
Canadian family down the road who I know but they are dead set against
having a maid because the wife thinks that her husband will end up
replacing her with the maid :-(
She only had 3 houses including me, so now she only has 2.  I don't
know the other house, I think they are some Thai family in the
neighbourhood.  I doubt I could convince them to suddenly start paying
more.  Thais think that maids are a dime a dozen and they will just
find a new one.  Which I reckon I will too, but still, I'll miss her.
I think she kind of wants to go back to the family banana plantation
anyway.  Her older sister was just here visiting and it seemed like
she misses her family.

Vino is adorable as ever. I took the time to look at all the pictures.
I really like the macro shots and the goldfish bowl. But how does he
get into the table slot and have room to turn around?

Well, it's actually a bit wider in there than the entrance doors.  I'd
say it's about a foot in width and 1.5 feet deep, so enough room to
turn around.  Glad you enjoyed the pics :-)

You get purrs for all the issues.  And thank you for the photos!  What a
great carpenter to build a table with a special nook for Vino!  I remember
those small bananas, too.  Extra sweet.

Heh, I doubt the carpenter had Vino in mind ;-)  If he only knew what
his table was being used for!   But alas, he will never know because
I'm sure he died long ago.  The table is from the mid-1800's from a
farm in China.

Thanks Polonca.  But things are hardly bad, not bad at all compared to
all the tragedy that's been happening to members of this group lately.
I have a lot to be thankful for.  Oh, and my TV is fixed and coming
back today, it only cost $40 to fix :-)

Purrs for your aggravations, but if that table for Vino was part of
the deal it was all worth it.   ;-)

I am not showing Hubert this pic; he's a hidey-hole kind of guy and
would be jealous.
