I just got a phone call from Grace. She asked me to post that two year
old Eve was killed this afternoon by someone backing up in their
driveway. Grace is in shock and having a hard time handling it. She
said if anyone wishes to send flowers, they can be sent to:
Hixson Brothers
2701 Military Hwy
Pineville, LA
(318) 640-1678
under the name Hannah Eve Oneal
The Funeral will most likely be on Wednesday. If anyone has messages
for her, post them and I am certain she will read the group when things
calm down. If you have any other questions about it, email me, and I
will try to get an answer.
Crying,
Bridget

My deepest condolences for Grace and family. This is where life is
not fair, and the hell with all of those who say "no one ever said
life isn't fair". It is these of the deepest of hurts that make it
so hard to find good in the world. I'm sorry for sounding like
this, but it is my thoughts and with my tears I send this to those
who share them. It's not fair to take our babies. Many purrs and

PS, also found the funeral home's website (am I a geek?), and they have a

don't have Eve listed in their obits yet, but it's still early and they may
not have updated their site:

This afternoon I took the boat from Hong Kong to Lantau Island, to the
Tai O temple where there are many cats. I left incense burning for
Eve.
You and your family are in my thoughts.

are no words to comfort you.
I remember, when we all waited for Eve to arrive and what fun we had,
looking for a proper name for her. Finally she was there - for to short
time:-(((

OMG, I can't begin to imagine how Grace must feel.
There are no words for this.
I know I don't post much here, but I did read lots about her pregnancy, the
birth etc., so I just have to react.
I'm wishing Grace all the strength in the world.

My heart goes out to you. I can't even imagine the horrible pain you
must be feeling right now. I wish I could somehow make this not have
happened. But all I can do is tell you that I hurt for you, and I'm
here for you.

This is heartbreaking. I first saw the email from the catslaves group
this morning, and I am still in shock.
My prayers deepest condolences go out to Grace and her family. When I
get home, I'll be sure to tell Harmony that we need the strongest
purrs of healing and support that she can generate.

Oh no. I'm so sorry. I remember the newsgroup updates when Grace
was pregnant and when Eve was born. I don't post much, but I
do try to keep up on what is going on. Please give Grace and
her family my condolences. They and Eve are in my thoughts.

There is nothing at all that can help make this better or more bearable.
It seems so recent we shared the news that Eve was expected. The entire
group it seemed hung out on line the day she was born to await her arrival.
We can only share your pain in such a tragedy.

Grace, we are so sorry you have to go through this. Though it be small
comfort, know that your friends all over the world are mourning beside you.
Prayers and purrs for you and your family in this most trying of times.

It's hard to shake off the horror of what happened. I dreamt last
night that I witnessed the accident in my own driveway. It's terrible
to lose a child, but the manner of this must be especially traumatic.
I hope that Grace and her family is all right.
CatNipped - 14 Sep 2004 16:51 GMT
A few years ago my daughter was in the front yard with her children as their
dad got into the truck to back out of the drive. Before my daughter could
even react, right there in front of her eyes, my granddaughter (Alexis, the
middle child, who was 5 at the time) ran behind the truck and was run over
by the back wheel. We are extremely lucky that all she suffered was a
broken leg. I can only imagine the horror that could have been had the
worst happened - watched by her mother and caused by her father. As it was
my daughter and SIL had terrible nightmares for months afterwards and my SIL
had a hard time dealing with the guilt even though it was not his fault and
he could not have prevented it (my daughter, standing only a couple of feet
away, couldn't prevent it).
Things like this can happen so quickly and unexpectedly, it makes you
realize how fragile life can be.
Again (and still), sending love, purrs, tears, and condolences to Grace and
her family.
Hugs,
CatNipped

That's so scary. It was unlucky, but lucky.

This is a terrible shock, please pass on my most sincerest condolences
to Grace and family. I come to regard this group as a sort of family and
it hurts to lose someone, but I can't imagine the pain that Grace is
going through. Purrs don't seem enough. :-(

We are so sorry to hear this, Grace. We are purring that Scrappy
(RB), who loved children of all ages, will meet Eve when she crosses
over to the rainbow bridge and smurgle with her.
