Waffles speaks...

This evening The Mighty Huntress brought in a shrew. Alas it was/is alive and
is running about. When Waffles first brought it in and dropped it on the floor,
it ran off. Waffles chased it and a pile of papers on the floor were
immediately re-filed as per The Feline Filing Method...

I wandered over to The Mighty Huntress and said "Waffles, what are you doing?
And where is that mousie?"

Waffles spoke.

"Mee-noe-noooo!"

So there we have it. Waffles can put a short sentence together in English. "Me
no know." Her grammar may be suspect, but considering it's not her first
language, I think she's darned good. Put it this way, her knowledge and use of
English is vastly better than my knowledge and use of Spanish.

Cheers, helen s

Wow. Considering hoomin is her second language, that's pretty darn good. Don't
be too picky about her grammar yet.

Waffles is indeed a very talented cat. Thank Bast she'll never breed! We
humans need all the advantages we can get.

Amen.  I am thinking that perhaps Waffles should contact CatNipped to
see how to go about joining Mensa.

Actually, Mensa is too lowly an organization for cats (being set up for mere
hoomins).  The organization Waffles should join is called "Mewsa" - hoomins
are too schtoopid to qualify for that one.

No Waffles sweetheart, that should be "I - noe - noooo."
Great story, Helen.

Frank is so proud of his talented and intelligent ladycat. He has been
trying to teach his hoomin Cattish, but hasn't been very succfessful.
The stoopid hoomin thinks everything he says means 'food'.

Humph.  I have the opposite problem Frank.  I seem to spend all my days
asking for food now, and they just ignore me most of the time.  Then
when they do feed me, it's some biscuity stuff that they tell me is good
for me. Whilst I have no objection to biscuits, a chap does need a bit
of variety!

SNIP

LOL, not only a skilled huntress, but an eloquent soul!  I hope Waffles
catches the little critter before long, though.

That's so cute!  I wish I had a cat that talked.  Betty is usually a
quiet cat, although she became very mouthy for a couple of days when I
took her to TED to get some booster shots last month.  She does have a
habit of meowing a few times when entering a room where I am.  I think
it's meant to be a form of fanfare.

Betty is not a big source of stories. :)  Every day is the same - she
gets kissed and nibbled and carried around, and whenever we encounter
each other somewhere in the house, we just freeze for a few seconds
staring at each other like, "It's Betty!!!!!", "It's daddy!!!!"

OK, well, I guess no stories is good. Because that means all is well & routine.
Nice to see you posting though!

That's so cute.  A lot of times when I walk into a room, and Stinky is
lounging, he will perk up and "MEOW!"  He hasn't seen me for ten whole
minutes. ;)

AWWWW! That is so cute! Sometimes I'll get that treatment from one of
my cats, but more often they're like, "Oh, it's just you." Then back
to sleep. :)

That happens here too, and I take it as a compliment.  Betty used to
sit up and come to full alert when I kissed or petted her while she
was asleep, but now, she just inflates and acknowledges me with a soft
"Mrrr".  She expects to be loved. :)

Welcome back, Tak.  We missed you (and Betty).

I can't stay away.  I need to hear about how everyone else's cats are
doing.  It sounds like the slaves have been picking up new owners
lately.
