Well, don't know if I'm just too lazy or busy, but I never got around
to writing something a new story. Instead, this is a repost of one
written last year. If you want to read the first "Sunnyday" story, or
any of the others, check out the Little Bit and Sammy page Flippy has
put together at http://www.flippyscatpage.com/littlebitandsammy.html
Another Sunnyday
A while back I wrote about what happens around here on Sunnyday.
My Mom, Little Bit, says it's called Sunnyday because that's the day
that the hoomin cleans up after the messy feathered creatures who live
in the wire box. Their names are Sunny and Tiger, and she says Sunny
has been here in the house the longest - so the day when they get to
come out of the box and we get locked up in the other room is called
Sunnyday.
Well, it's Sunnyday here again, but things went a little different
than usual. The hoomin finally turned up the heat on in the Great
Outside, so when he cleaned out the wire box Mom and I got to go
OUTSIDE. I still had to wear my leash, but this time the hoomin hooked
a long leash onto the regular one, and stayed inside watching out the
window while I explored.
Once the wire box was cleaned, he put away the feathered
creatures, opened up the door and came out with Mom and me. He brought
out the hot smelly black water and read the paper for awhile while I
continued exploring, and chased the dry things that the wind blows.
As you may remember, I once wrote about the time I ignored the
hoomin and stayed on the tasty green carpet when the green snakes
started spewing water. Momma and the hoomin just laughed at me when I
got wet..
Well, today the laugh was on them. While the hoomin was laying out
the green snakes, Momma went through the hole in the fence. When the
rain started, Momma was on the wrong side, but wanted to come back and
keep the hoomin from ruining his eyes reading. (One of Momma's
self-appointed duties here is to make sure the hoomin doesn't ruin his
eyes by reading too long.) She called to the hoomin, but he just
looked up and kept reading. It was obvious that the hoomin's eyes were
failing fast, so she dashed through the hole and ran for the patio. It
sure was funny to watch. Once she got to the patio she jumped up in
his lap. His cup of black smelly water spilled and got them all,
Momma, the Hoomin and the paper, wet.
Then he went around the building and the rain stopped. A black
snake, called soaker hose by the hoomin, was sunning itself in the
flowerbed. This was where I used to chase the bugs when the hoomin put
the green snake there and water came out. This new soaker thingy
doesn't have water coming out the end like the green snake, instead it
made a hissing noise and water started coming out all along its
length. This was when I discovered a new watersport. I explored all up
and down the length trying to figure out where the hissing was coming
from. Sometimes the water just drips from the soaker thing, but
sometimes it squirts out. The bugs still come out, but not as fast as
with the green snake.
After a while, we all came inside and the hoomin started
collecting all the dirty clothes and putting them in piles. He does
this about once a week - calls it laundry day. Momma helps by making
sure the everything is put in the right pile. I dig through all the
piles to make sure none of my toys are inside - Once the hoomin took
one of my furry mice. When the piles were all done, the hoomin
collected everything and left while Momma and I took our naps to rest
up to help when he brought home the clean stuff.
After a couple hours he came back and all the dirty stuff was
clean again. Momma and I woke up and went to work helping him put away
the clean stuff. Usually Momma inspects everything to make sure it's
clean before it's put away, while I make sure everything is soft and
smells good.
But today she went outside while he was carrying it inside. So
today when she came to inspect the hoomin was already putting stuff
away. That's when the second funny thing happened to Momma today. The
hoomin was putting stuff in the top drawer which Momma hadn't
inspected yet, so she jumped up get in the drawer and check things
out. You should have seen her face when jumped up and the drawer slid
shut. Luckily, she managed to let go before her front paws were caught
by the drawer. Then she went over and sat in the middle of the floor
and tried to pretend that she was just helping shut the drawer.
While she was putting on her act, I helped put away the towels.
That's my specialty, making sure they're nice and soft and on the
right shelve. The cupboard where they go is one of the best places for
a cat to sing - nice soft towels to lay on and the acoustics are great
when the towels are put on the right shelves.
Well, that's pretty much how things went around here today. Hope
everyone else is having a great day. Bye for now,
Sam
