The storm isn't expected to do any real damage to my neck of the woods.

(I post this because Havery's other owner reads this group)

Also, Harvey eats dog food and doesn't like his gooshy food anymore. Should I
be concerned?

He has to eat catfood. Dog food doesn't have enough nutrients in it for him.
You could mix some in with the catfood, but on it's own is not good enough.
Glad you are out of harms way.

I've been told by vets that dogfood can kill cats - something to do with an
ingredient (ground-up bones) not being cat-digestible.

Hmm. Never heard that one, but definitely lacking in necessary nutrients.

It's essential that cats have something called taurine, and it isn't in dog
food.

My apologies. There was supposed to be a q-mark after the word bones ... I'm
sure you will understand that occasional errors creep in when one is
"helped" in typing by a four-legged purrball ... I don't remember what the
ingredient is; just a vague recollection about the ground bones.

I don't think it is so much the ingredients as it is the lack of
taurine which is essential in a cat's diet.  A little dog food isn't
going to hurt a cat.  Tigger and Tiger both have to have their nightly
dog food fix when I feed the big yellow monster.  When I pick up the
d*g's dish to feed him they head for the room with the food bin, and
wait impatiently until I throw a handful on the floor for them.  They
chase the kibble bits all over the place, and when they have subdued
them they eat them.

Dog food lacks some nutrients that cats HAVE to have, such as taurine.
You may have a problem here if he's insisting that dog food be his
primary diet.

I think the problem is the brand of cat food currently in the house is not up
to His Holiness' standards.

Wouldn't surprise me. Felix once decided that going on a hunger strike
was a reasonable response to my trying to switch varieties of Science
Diet on him [and AFAIK they should have been about the same flavor].
