I sent pics of Billy & Lilly to the breeder who gave me Abelard. She used to
also raise Maine Coons. She said they look like MCs to her. I hope she's
right, because I *adore* the MC breed!

They do have some MC characteristics. IIRC Lilly has perfectly round eyes and
Billy has the classic uneven coat. Bless the fuzzy little turkey-butts. Does it
seem like they're getting much bigger?

They are eating like horses and growing like weeds. Billy is almost as big
as Abelard already!

Lilly tips the scale at 4 lbs, 3 oz. Billy is 6 lbs+.

Are there so many intact Maine Coons wandering around populating the US?
The chances of getting a part MC kitten here in UK must be around zero.

I have to say I do see a lot of cats that sure look like they had an MC
somewhere in their lineage. Look at my mom's Tycho under "Mom's Cat's" in my
photo album. Pulled him inside after a year on his own. He's not big like an
MC, but his personality is just like one, he lumbers around like a gentle
giant has the big ear tufts and the big ruff and SUPER thick fur, not like
persian or angora at all or even like other longhaired domestics, but THICK
like he could easily live in below zero weather.

Look at the coloring on the back of his ears. It's *really* that dark and
goes up into tufts at the top.

You can kind of see the tufts in this one. They are actually very prominent
when  you look at him in real life, as is longer hair on his ruff. It does
not really do him justice.

This shows his ultra long whiskers:

They are an impressive set
My Tito has to have some Maine Coon in him too.
Thick fur, heavy cat, ear hair, long bushy tail and is my resident
clown.

Oh, gosh Tycho is beautiful. He does have an awful lot of Maine Coon traits.
Except for his eyes, they look a little too almond-shaped. Who is the
black/white cat with the black ear? WAY cool markings!
Speaking of pictures. (grandcat warning! grandcat warning!)...I took this one.
It's one of thos pics that your kid would kill you if they knew you posted it
on the internet, but it was so sweet.

Oh how cute is THAT!!!! I love it. The other cat is Petrus, another stray
that showed up on mom's roof repeatedly as a  6 month old kitten. She
finally just nabbed him and brought him in. She went around trying to find
an owner, but no one claimed him. He is actually a dark grey and white. He
is THE biggest love bug in the world. He has SUPER long legs and is the
skinniest cat I know, but he quite obviously when you meet him has a ton of
some kind of oriental breed of some kind in him. Talkative and with a tail
that never stops.   Not even when he sleeps! He is wiry strong too. But not
a real big kitty. He is almost two now, and I bet he weighs maybe 10 lbs.
But the longest legs and toes I have ever seen on a cat. I call him monkey
toes.
