[OT] Purrs for Russian kids

Don't know if you folks know, but terrorists in Russia are keeping over 300
people as hostages in a school, a fair percentage of those children on their
first day. Its been going on for 3 days now, and the terrorists still
haven't allowed food into the site.

Besides cursing these cowards with litterbox contents, can we spare a few a
few purrs and prayers for the hostages, particularly the children, and of
course their frantic families.

Mega purrs and prayers on the way for all hostages everywhere, and
dirty litterbox offerings for their captors.  Boomer, the d*g, is even
sending some of his most smelly offerings.

I've been following that, and we are sending purrs. Happily, they released
some of the hostages yesterday, but most of them are still held in the
school.

It's awful.
I understand that it was feared (mentioned on Swedish Radio that morning)
something would happen on Wednesday with still one suspected suicide bomber
unaccounted for after the attacks on the aeroplanes last week and at a train
station in Moscow the day before. Wednesday was the first day back in school
in Russia and obviously parents/mothers and younger sisters and brothers
come with the kids for that.
But this was on a much larger scale, they say over 1.000 people are being
held, a few of the youngest ones and some mothers were released yesterday.
The reports say no children are among the 12 or so dead, so far.

The Russian situation is taking up much news time in the UK. It's an awful
situation - they won't accept food & water in for the kids & the terrorists are
wired as suicide bombers. My heart goes out to the kids, the adults held and
the families.

Any cause that fights its war behind children is not a cause any sane
person would support. A just end would be for each terrorist to have
to dwell inside each person they have hurt and experience the barbaric
cruelty themselves, over and over until they have lived through each
experience of every life they hurt. An even more barbaric, yet unfair
punishment would to put their children through the same experience and
make them watch. But that simply would not be fair to the children of
these animals (that is an insult to animals, expecially my 3 cats, who
would never act in such a manner). I am praying for the families, but
I fear that this will eventually be more and more common.

I have just read that the standoff is over, but more than one hundred
were killed when Russian troops stormed the school.  God, how
dreadful.  It's like the Moscow theater all over again.

It's awful, but as the terrorists started shooting at some kids, then I don't
think they had any option left other than to take the school :-( I don't think
the Russians wanted it to end this way. It's every parent's nightmare. In the
last few days Russia has had two airliners blown out of the skies by terrorists
and now this. The Russian people must be wondering what on earth is going on
and feel rocked to the core over there.

The news article I read said that over 200 children and adults were
killed. The Russians claim that they had to go in because the
terrorists had wired the school with explosives and started setting
them off; apparently at least some portions of the roof of the school
collapsed during it all. The Russians are also claiming that 10 of the
26 terrorists were Arabs and that there is an al-Quaida connection to
the operation.

When I read about things like this and the Sudanese genocide, I'm
jolted back to the realization that I don't have any *real* problems.
When I want to heat something up to eat, I reach in the fridge and pop
it in the microwave.  If I want a drink of water, I turn on the tap
and there it is.  I don't have to worry about whether I'll be able to
find food; get sick from drinking the water, or about getting my leg
blown off because I walked in a minefield looking for wood like those
poor people in the Sudan.

Those poor children, they must be so frightened! God, I hate terrorism and
those who stoop to it to achieve their aims!  Especially these, who have
siezed children. Those ****s have had their hearts programmed right out of
them. I hope the situation is resolved soon and the captors get the
punishment they so richly deserve while protecting the children from further
harm.

Sometimes the world sucks  terribly
Purrs for the children, although I wish I had stronger ammunition against
those terrible people.

I'm afraid I was watching the horror unfold all day, until tonight is
seems as though over 300 (out of perhaps 1,000 hostages in total) may
have died, with hundreds more traumatised.

My heart goes out to the bereaved & the suffering, and mega-purrs too.

I have no room for sympathy for the terrorists, however badly
provoked, and I'm not sorry about that one little bit.

Best to all.

Gordon & the terrible trio.

I've been watching it on the news, over 150 dead. I cried as I watched,
hundreds of people trapped in a small space with no food or water.
Absolutely nothing can justify treating people this way, some were only
toddlers.

Purrs and litterbox droppings for the terrorists, and calming purrs and
thoughts for the hostages.  May they be free soon.

I've seen on the latest news 320 confirmed dead, 167 of the are
children. They are still finding bodies in the rubble plus not all of
the 700 injured are expected to make it. This story has made me feel
physicaly sick and very depressed.

Just more proof that terrorists are completely insane.  What sane person
would think that hurting and killing children would sway anyone to their
cause?

Same here. :( I heard a news teaser that said they are pretty sure of
the terrorist ties, but I changed the channel. Terrorists are
terrorists. I was just checking in on the hurricane in Florida. More
purrs going out to them, and to the families of those lost and
injured in Russia.
