Hi Baha!
Did you get much of the rain that has come through upstate/central NY in
the last 2/3 days? We had between 5 and 7 inches near Syracuse in the pst
48 hours. My cats aren't normally afraid of storms, but the lightening
struck 3 houses within 2 miles of us. The thunder clap that followed one of
the strikes blew my curtains straight in. My cats left the area immediately,
and I found most of them hiding under my bed. They said they were making
sure no greeblings came in during the storm. <G>
Hope you are high and dry!

My father is seriously scared of Hurricane Frances and it takes some urging
to get him thinking about packing up. It's still days away from the east
coast but he's urging mom to start packing and he's in "where the hell did I
put the masking tape" mode. Tropical Storm Gaston hit Charleston Sunday
which is about 100 miles north of where they live.
I have to tell you, I'm starting to seriously doubt my parents actually
*live* in this house. I showed these pics to a friend of mine and she said
nope, no way. People don't live like that. They just rent it for when you
come to visit. LOL!

The only thing wrong with these photos is there are no cats. Dad claims to
hate cats (blasphemy!) but then asks me how Persia is. They do have a
hummingbird feeder and ginko lizards that sometimes drink water or bathe in
the saucer on the back patio :) Sometimes the lizards even get into the
house. If they had a cat they wouldn't have that problem. The biggest
problem (as I see it) is those damned ugly Palmetto bugs. EWWWW!
Purrs for everyone in these storms paths and other assorted purrs too.

Howdy!
Buffalo's just been dreary for the last several days. It's been cold, but that's
no surprise in this area; we've had pretty constant rain, but thankfully no
serious storms or damage. We did have a day of thunder and lightning, which
spooked our ordinarily hyper Stosh, and left Zen Mistress Roxie unruffled. Our
Brandy was too busy getting used to her new home to care either way. The most
damage has come from the more pessimistic sun-worshipers, who've been
complaining ad nauseam of the lack of summer we've had, but Buffalo never gets a
real summer anyway. We say around here that we have 2 seasons, the 4th of July
and winter. Besides, I like thunderstorms.
I hope you guys are OK; I've heard about the drowning of Syracuse. I also hope
your home is safe from greeblings.
Blessed be,
Baha

I see this dated 8/31. My news reader doesn't copy the posting date for
you./
My parents live in Rochester. We had 5 inches rain over night one time (I
had a bin on the deck outside my place, by dumb coincidence. I took a tape
measure, and it had five inches, that's how I know.)
Dad's sump pump failed, and they had an inch in the cellar. I went to go try
to help pump it out.

Hope it gets fixed. Its currently raining a bit north of Boston. Spicey is
napping after a morning of playing Speed Kitty and Bug Hunt. Joanne's ankles
are still intact.
