If this is posted twice, sorry

Okay, since that last one was so depressing, here are some cheerful
vignettes.

Shelby the Whale was boarding this week and went home yesterday.
hehehehehehe.......a little background on Shelby.  She's an Aussie Mix
dog, who used to be totally normal.  But either she started getting
fed way too much or didn't get any exercise, but her weight ballooned
to enormous levels.  When I first saw her in May she was a little over
150 lbs!!!!  It took three of us to get her in to the tub so I could
give her a bath.  And she got tired of standing in the tub so she sat
down......right on the water hose, slowing the water so I could wash
her, and it was almost impossible to get her to stand up again.
Hence, the name Shelby the Whale.  (Yesterday, one of my co-workers
called her Jabba the Mutt and I practically fell over laughin)

Side note: We do NOT call these animal by their nicknames in front of
the clients.  Some know about them, but most of them don't.  It's just
a little something we techs do.  THey normally arise if there's
something silly about the pet that stands out.  Things like "Psycho
Kitty", or if they're a lot of hyper Pug dogs in the clinic, "Spastic
Pug #1"  We do have these regular clients with a pair of bulldogs that
we all call the Pigs, and the owners are totally cool with that.
(have you ever heard a bulldog?  They sound totally like pigs)

I'm glad to say that as of yesterday Shelby the Whale has lost 20
pounds.  It totally shows, and we're all so proud of her.

On to the kitties...........

Remember Jack and Smokey, the pair of Siamese cats?  (We are Sia-meese
if you plee-ease......)  Well every morning all the cats that are
boarding need to be weighed and if needed, moved into another cage so
their old one can be cleaned.  Smokey is a love bug, so I had no
problem with her.  Jack waited until I had him out of the cage and on
the scale before freaking out.  I have a small scratch on my side and
one on the back of my hand to prove it.

When the time came for them to go home, Smokey went into her carrier
no problem.  Jack was lunging and hissing at anything and everyone.
Even the Vet couldn't get him.  We had to get the owner to come back
and coax him out.  Upon smelling his daddy, Jack did a 180 and started
streeeeetching as if to say, "Ooooooohhhhhh Daaaaaaadddddddy, you're
fiiiiiiiiinally here to rescue me from these horrible horrible
people...."  He got him into the carrier with no problems.

Sheesh.....

Pete the hospital was walking by the cat cages this morning while I
was tending to the cats.  He walked by the cats stuck in cages and
man, if looks could kill...........

Shadow is a sleek black kitty that gets kinda jealous.  If you're
attending to the cat in the cage next hers, she will reach out a paw
and tap you, saying "Ummmm, what about me?"  I've been tending to a
cage in a lower level and will suddenly feel this tapping on my head.
What a sweetie.......

This is the last weekend with Su-Ling.  She goes home next wednesday.
I'll see her one more time, but I will miss her.  She is soooooo sweet
and soft and tiny for a six year old Tonkinese kitty.  Ah well, there
will be other sweet kitties.

Mia, Mittens and Sassy stayed for a day.  Mia tried to get me to stick
my fingers through the bars and pet her so she could bite me, but I
wasn't falling for it this time.  This time I just kept my fingers
close but not in the cage.  That worked for a while, until Mia reached
out and swiped my thumb.  Ow.............  Mittens also tried to slice
me too, she was sooooooo mad with everyone, even when her owner picked
her up.

There was this adorable gray, long haired kitty in today for
deworming.  She actually didn't protest too much when I took her
temperature.

I work tomorrow from 8 to closing, which is about 5, but depending on
how long it takes us to clean and close up will depend what time I
actually leave.

Then I start school on Monday and get fewer hours to work.  Ah well,
such is life.

Take care,

Kristi

I'll read the sad one later.  Just want to say once again  how much we
all appreciate these stories.
