You've probably seen this before, but for those who haven't it's a hoot and
it's even worth a second look for those who have seen it.  I posted "Funny
Cat" to alt.binaries.pictures.animals, have a look.

I put this on my web site for those who can't see the binaries news group.
Every time I see this I burst out laughing...

OK, I'm sorry if this appears multiple times, but I'm having a problem (does
anyone else have this problem?).  When I post this message it will appear on
the newsgroup but when I click on it I get the message "No longer available
on server" and then it "takes back" the post and it seems to disappear.
Does this happen to anyone else?  Are you getting multiple versions of the
message or is it just disappearing into limbo???

Again, I posted this on my web site for those who can't get the binaries
newsgroup - every time I see this it makes me laugh...

That's a news server thing. Your newsserver is having a problem. It is a
funny pic.

This usually means that your ISP has several news servers, with some
sort of switchboard program controlling which one you connect to, in
order to try to balance out the load between them.  When you posted
the message and fetched the headers that listed your new message, you
were retrieving information from one news server.  When you then
tried to fetch the message body, it connected to a different server
that hadn't received the message yet, and therefore you got the "No
longer available on server" message.  If you wait a few minutes, then
tell your news reader program to fetch all of the messages for this
newsgroup (which will probably take several minutes to complete), you
should see your message.

If more than, say, a minute elapsed between your fetching the list of
messages, and the unsuccessful attempt to fetch the body of the newly
posted message, then tell your ISP's tech support staff, as they
probably have something configured wrong.  On the other hand,
messages sometimes take several hours before they show up in the
Google archive.
