Just thought I'd pass along her post that I just saw over in Yahoo.
Sounds like they had quite a bit of property damage, and still no
power or phone service, but no injuries. Anyway, here's her post:

"Hello. A quick note to let you guys know we made it thru the
hurricane. The house wasn't so lucky. We decided to go to my mother's
friends house for the hurricane instead of staying at the house. Lucky
for us we did. The house lost all he the shingles and water poured in,
the ceilings all fell and got most things wet including all the beds
and most furniture. I took my computer with me so it is fine. We are
stayng with friends Scat and Crackles are with me and seem to be
taking things fine but I don't know when my vet will reopen and I can
get crackles more meds so I am only giving him one clavmox a day
instead of 2 cause I don't know when I can get more. I don't know how
often I can post cause we have to move out of our house and find
someplace else. Almost half the houses in my county have been deemed
unlivable so housing will be hard to find, storage too cause the
storage places were destroyed. The power isn't on where we are staying
nor the phones and it is hot and smelling as everything rots or molds
out in the community. I will update when I can, tell the newsgroup
crackles and me are ok but can't get there to post right now. peace,
meow"

Thanks for the update, Steve. How terrible that she lost her house! But
lucky she wasn't in it. We are sending her and the cats lots of purrs for
new housing.

Ditto what you said.  Hurricanes are nothing to mess around with.  When in
doubt, get out!  Glad they did.  Property can eventually, somehow, someway,
be replaced; people and pets cannot be.  Many purrs heading that way from
Persia, strong positive thoughts from me and a few nice chirps from Peaches,
too.

Thanks for the update Steve, I hope she has adequate insurance.

How frightening!  I'm so glad that they are all okay.  Purrs for
resolving the housing situation and getting needed meds very soon.
