If there are any nurturing purrs to spare, can you send some for a tiny
kitten who was found on the street yesterday by a friend's children who
live in Belgium? It's a little black & white baby, and was alone on the
street. She has been to the vet with the kitten and they think it is no
more than 2 days old. The mother was nowhere to be seen although they
did search for her. She is hand-rearing him, feeding every 3 hours,
keeping him warm and helping him poop and pee (which he has done). Her
daughters have named him Figaro and her two other cats (3 month old
kittens) are terrified of him!
They are so fragile when they are young, so any life-giving purrs which
you can send over to him will be very welcome.
I've sent her some advice too, and also a number of good orphan kitten
websites which she's looking at.
Many thanks -
Deb.

Purrs coming that the little guy makes it.
Our best cat when I was growing up was a tuxedo tomcat with six toes
on his front feet, names Mittens. Our dashcund found Mittens and his
siblings, eyes still shut, in a gunny sack in the foothills, but
Mittens was the only one alive when we happened along. Silly Mittens
thought he was a dog for the first year of his life and slept with his
step-pappa, Bobo, the d*g. Even when he figured out he was a cat he
continued to nurse on Bo all his life. Like a lot of daschunds, Bo
didn't know he was a little d*g, and was the alpha d*g of our three
d*gs - Mittens ranked number 2, and they teamed up to beat up the
others when they acted uppidy.

Hi Deb, yes, many purrs for them! I got my little Rex when he was
just a tad and had to go thru all the feeding with a little bottle,
making him go to the bathroom, etc. And that in itself was kind of a
shock to my system. I never had any children (human, that is) and
never a pet that young. I thought they would at least automatically
know how to urinate, etc, but the vet informed me otherwise what I was
in for! What fun.
I also didn't sleep one nite straight thru for several weeks.
I hope your friend has a good support system at home. She'll need it!!
But in my case at least, it was worth it!

Wow, poor little baby! I hope he makes it. Sounds like he has a good
chance, given how well cared-for he is. And I agree with OJ - with all
the handling and bonding with humans, he'll be very much a people-cat
once he's older. Many purrs for the baby kitten!

Many thanks to each one of you for your purrs and thoughts for this
little one - I know that several of you know how hard it is hand-rearing
baby kittens. My friend is feeding him every 3 hours and has got hold of
proper kitten milk formula, so he has the best chance - she is a very
kind and caring person so he won't be lacking in nurturing :-)
Fortunately she also works from home - she's an artist, like me - so is
available all day - and all night!
Will keep you updated as to how he gets on.
Purrs to all

Ginger-lyn, Hi, I've just read your story about the foil balls on Flippy's
daily story, all my cats love their foil balls but Zac RB always brought
them back and if you didnt look when he dropped them at your feet, he would
meow loudly,
When he was a very small kitten and we started this, I was rolling one
around for him on the dining table when it accidently rolled off, he jumped
off after it
and then jumped back up with it, he was only small and I was amazed he could
even jump up that high he grew into a big unusual cat but unfortunately far
too
adventurous and was run over at 2 1/2 yrs and he was a beautiful animal, he
and my dog Ralph were bosom buddies, and Ralph taught him everything. He
was 9 when we got Zac, I put Zac down in the doorway as I really bought
him for my son who had just lost his, he ran across the room and sat between
the front legs of this big black labradour looking very proud of himself and
Ralph fell in love forever, I must tell their love story on Flippy's page
sometime
sorry to go on but sometimes you cant help it Cheers Jean.P.

Hello all - Figaro is still doing OK, but had a bout of diarrhoea
yesterday, so my friend took him back to the vet who gave some vitamins
and rehydration, and she said by the late evening he was doing much
better, really seeking food and moving around his nest. She said he is
also a she - so has been renamed Babaneeni which was one of her
daughter's nicknames when she was a baby!
Thanks again for all the purrs, I am sure they are helping!!
