Robin, the lovebug

CATherine - 28 Sep 2003 05:21 GMT It seems someone dumped a cat on me way out here in the country. I have named him Robin because he is the color of a Robin.
He is desperate for loving, winding about our legs and wanting to be picked up and loved. He gets ecstatic in my arms and loves his head and neck rubbed.
He has a few old scratches around his head and neck, all healed and scabs peeling. But no deep wounds. He is in good shape. He seems to have only spent one night outside.
I am keeping him on my enclosed porch where it is warm and sheltered, with food, water and litter and a good perch by a window. I bring him into the house after I put my 3 cats in the bedroom.
We took some pictures and I posted them on alt.binaries. pictures.animals under this title.
I think he is about 9-10 months. He is neutered and still has the scab from it. Maybe they waited too long to neuter him because he still sprays, although he doesn't have the tomcat scent, thank G*d! And maybe that is why a loving cat was dumped.
CATherine, glad he found us before a coyote found him

Don't you wish he could talk? It just doesn't make sense that someone would go to the bother and expense to neuter a cat, and then dump it. Do you think he might be chipped?

Their loss, my gain. Persia looks identical to "Robin"! right down to the subtle stripes Catherine describes on the tail!

But today was livestock auction day, so the vet was out there all day. So Robin will go back tomorrow for his exam.
I have been up since 4am and worked 9 fatiguing hours, so I will write more news tomorrow and have more pics to put on catslaves.

[quoted text clipped - 20 lines] > >CATherine, glad he found us before a coyote found him I already saw the pix, and he is definately a handsome guy and looks so happy. I've heard that it takes a little time for the hormones to work their way out after the male is neutered, so hopefully he'll stop spraying after awhile - it's probably too soon if he still has a scab from the neutering. Maybe that will help the other cats be more accepting as well.
Also glad he found you before the coyotes found him, if I remember the post in the pix group he already gets along with the dog, so would have easy prey for a coyote.

The vet maybe can tell how long he has been neutered and how old he is. And whether he has worms or anything.

Persia also has the subtle black stripes on her tail; you have to look really close to see them. If we weren't so far apart I'd think she and Robin could be twins. :)

But he is mostly Russian Blue. :-) That was what I thought when I saw the pics. My niece has two Russian Blues. The eyes of the older one, Kasper, took a long time to turn green, and he was supposed to be unfit for showing (that whole world is completely foreign to me), but then finally, they turned green. There are no white spots on RBs, though, so Robin must be a mix. Maybe that's why he was dumped. :o( Maybe the dumper thought s/he was being responsible by neutering and declawing him first. <sarcastic smile>

But he is mostly Russian Blue. :-) Catherine, I just posted some pictures of my niece's two Russian Blue cats. She has a website for them, but it seems that no-one outside Finland can view them, so I snatched a few photos off her site and posted to my Yahoo account. Kira is younger, smaller and lighter in colour, and in some pictures you can see the faint stripes in her tail. Kasper is older and darker in colour, and I think he looks exactly like your Robin, except for the white. They are in the folder
http://uk.f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/frankiennikki/lst?&.dir=/Kasper+and+Kira&.sr c=ph&.view=t
or

The last pic is my favourite, where Kasper in the back is looking so stern and Kira in the front looks goofy with her tongue out.

Either can I, but only because I have yet to find out how to access alt.binaries.animals.whatever via a web browser *for free*. Ever since NailNews went away, I have been unable to see the pics on that newsgroup. I've asked about it here a few times, but no one has replied - maybe because it's no longer possible to view it for free?
So I wish that folks who don't already have a place to post their pics would get an account on Yahoogroups and post them on the Catslaves photo site - that's what it's for!
Thanks
