Well, I'm scheduled for 11:00AM CDST tomorrow (Friday, August 20), and
knowing how powerful the purrs from this group are, humbly ask for some
purrs that the lithotripsy goes smoothly with no complications.

Thanks guys.

Hugs,

Very loud operation purrs coming from Kitty & Boyfriend in England and a

Thanks!  It's a "same-day" procedure (out-patient surgery), so if everything
goes OK I should be home tomorrow, bruised, but minus one kidney stone (or I
should say instead of one kidney stone blocking my right kidney I'll have
thousands of little calcium flakes to be "flushed" away ;>).

I understand kidney stones are very painful so you are sure to be much
better when it's been done.
Chin up, chicken!   Soon be over.  Best of luck.  When you are in the
hospital think of all your cat group friends sending healing purrs, it might
comfort you.

I've asked for dental purrs in the past, and when I was sitting there at the
dentist's, I thought of all the cats purring for me around the world, and
just felt like laughing. It really helps! BTW, I'm seeing the dentist again
today (Friday), but I'm not scared any more. :o)

You got it! I will be at the yard with my truck but not on the road yet,
so I'll be sending my best thoughts your way, and the four furkids at

Thanks Victor.  A lithotripsy is when they shoot sound waves at a stone
that's blocking your kidney's proper functioning and pulverize it.  Don't
ask me how they pulverize the stone without pulverizing your innards,
though, I haven't a clue!

Put very simply they dunk you in a tank of water and direct vibrations in
the general direction of your kidneys which break up kidney stones without
damage to the soft tissue and bones that are you.  Kind of like making sand
out of boulders.

Been there, done that.  And wish I'd been conscious to remember it.  But it
was a piece of cake and a huge relief to have it done and the stones broken
up.

Lots of purrs for everything to go smoothly and for you to be well and
relaxed.

Lots of purrs coming your way. The procedure may not be your idea of fun or
anyone else's, but hopefully, you will feel MUCH better for having had it
once it's all over.  I know someone who went through lithotripsy about 15
years ago, and SHE certainly felt  better afterwards.  In the intervening 15
years, I imagine they've learned a lot about perfecting the technique, and
making it more effective.

Purrs on their way.

Now, I guess i"ve missed something somewhere (there's over a thousand
messages that I haven't read and probably will never catch up on at the
moment) but what is a lithotripsy?

Breaks up kidney stones.  Usually you sit in a water bath and there are some
sort of sound waves that break up the stones into powder.  Dennis' sister
has bad kidney stones and is constantly having lithotripsies.
I think it must be a relatively new thing because when I was 3 my mom had
kidney stones and they didn't have that treatment and she spent a lot of
time in the hospital drinking beer and skipping rope :-(

When I had it done 16 years ago it was a relatively new procedure.  And you
would usually have to travel quite a ways to a place that had the set up.

The up side was they put us up at a really nice local resort the night after
as part of the package.  So they could check on all the days patients at one
convenient place.
